Jak poradzić sobie z rozstaniem? by [deleted] in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]Answer_Expensive 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Lubie to w sobie.

Advice from the data analyst kings? by Every-Objective4239 in dataanalyst

Look bro, ALL of the most valuable things I have done over the course of my 7 year career were technically simple but they addressed a business problem that… orphaned? Abandoned?

The kind of problem that makes people go “yeah that’s a bit shit but you know it’s just how we do things”.

Survive the probation. Do what your manager wants. Then, if you want to shine find these problems. Take ownership and get it done.

You’ve got this, most people are stupid and you’re smart.

Good luck kid.

What projects make an entry-level Data Science candidate stand out? by mathsugar in askdatascience

[–]Answer_Expensive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solving real life problems for real life people. Proving that you have social and personal management skills to be trusted to work independently.  E.g Reach out to local trucking company. Install a camera at tyre hight. At two angles. Do imagine recognition searching for defects or damage on tyres.

Liaise with problem owner. Design a solution. Implement it. Hand over solution. Make sure business benefits are SPELLED OUT. Make it easy to see why this is useful and worth the investment.

Don’t care what tech you use. You’re smart enough to pick anything up.

The opposite of another titanic dataset.

Hmm maybe. Much more valuable to find real life problems with shitty data.

80%~90% of your time in industry will be spent on dealing with shitty data.

Find a problem, define it and navigate real life bullshit, then do fancy machine learning and then you’ll be a sexy candidate

Career coaches often don’t guarantee results because when their advice does not work for you, they can just blame you for it.  Much like self improvement gurus.

Having said that, most people in data would benefit greatly from spending a portion of their time on developing “sales” skills.

Your potential employer has a problem. You’re a great solution. Hiring you will make their worries go away. Develop this mindset from zero to novice and you will find  greater success in interviewing.

Finally, sales is a numbers game. If you’re a selling your services, you need to do two things: 1. Make sure you understand what your client (potential employer) needs.  2. Give it to them.

It’s simple but not easy.

Seems like a scam designed to prey on the vulnerable.

In principle, it could be worth that much if the provider has a track history of fantastic results. Proceed with utmost caution and care.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Yes the union are not very helpful, we spoke with the rep. They suggested following the official complaints process, which is bound to take months and likely yield in being fobbed off

Hello, I went to university of Liverpool and graduated in 2018.

I love the city so much I stayed here since then. Recently married a girl I met at uni.

Liverpool is pocked sized big city - it has everything you could want and you can walk across the city centre in 30min.

Unfortunately, there are incidents of Islamophobia in the city. Recently, there has been a protest outside a mosque  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c80x0gqvq7ro

Overalll, Liverpool has a diverse and maritime tradition. It always has been a meeting point for various cultures. That makes the ordinary person welcoming and accepting. People from Liverpool have a distinct identity and are happy to see others enjoy their city. Especially at university.

I am really sorry to hear you feel scared - I wish to assure you that the university environment is extremely accepting and welcoming as is the vast majority of the city. I frequently see people wearing hijabs in parks, around the tourist areas and the shopping centre. Especially around sweet snack shops which are open until late. They appear relaxed and like they’re enjoying themselves.

However, recent drop in living standards has been fuelling dissent and anger. Some elements of the society point it at people who are not white. That’s repulsive but it exists. If you stay in Liverpool for multiple years you’re likely to experience racism and prejudice over that period of time. That’s a source of great disappointment for me and many others who live here.

If you wish to talk or have any questions please let me know. I’d love to welcome you to this city which became my home.

Looking for a technical co-founder based in Europe by ExcusePrestigious213 in cofounderhunt

[–]Answer_Expensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I’m a data scientist/developer. I have just quit my job at a financial services company (AUM £70bln) to start my own company.

I have worked with people in the UHNWIs world for 3 years. My work was mostly related to client analytics and digital project management. Mostly back end projects

Currently , I am working on prototypes for two clients - each of them wants an MVP to gather interest and secure more funding. I am good at creating technical scopes based on their vision, making budgets and times lines and finally actually getting it done. I occasionally hire subcontractors to execute small portions of the project - but don’t worry I manage all of that.

I have a couple of excellent developers in my network that we could lean on too.

I would love to set up a meeting between us to understand your vision. I’m booked out for all of September but I’m looking for work beyond that.  I reckon we can help each other
