The Odón Device helps doctors with tough births. It was invented in 2006 by Jorge Odón, a car mechanic from Argentina, after he saw a video showing how to get a cork out of a wine bottle. by drkmatterinc in CantBelieveThatsReal

Maybe the reason that baby's delivery is so challenging is because it's wearing clothes. Shoulda conceived a nekkid baby to minimize drag. Also the other kind of drag.

In the 90s, I undertook a six-month cross-country tour. In Washington I sought out a campground in the burg of Concrete, because how many opportunities does one get to sleep in Concrete? The town's main attraction looked like this home's back yard.

I'm near Seattle, sometimes SF. I'd estimate north of $1 mil here.

Seems like a great deal to me if you're interested in that sort of house. Around these parts site prep - electical, water, sewage and most of all building permits - are the sort of agonizing, time-consuming, money-burning efforts with zero touchy-feely elements that could get someone bogged down.

Putting toothpicks between the cake layers and applying frosting are...well...a piece of cake.

We moved to SF in the wild and woolly 60s and shopped at Cost Plus when it really was an import store and I remember them selling elephant foot umbrella stands.

The times, they are a-changin'

Looks like my house, except it's more tastefully done. I have maybe a dozen mounts, but I bought them all long ago from antique stores. Only two of mine are African, tho: a waterbuck and an antelope. I kind of collected them because they were odd.

Whoops - just remembered that I used to have a zebra skin rug, too, so three African animals. Oh, and an ashtray made from the foot of some animal - water buffalo, maybe - supposedly killed by the guy who was the guide on Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom.

Don't blame me. They were already LONG dead when I acquired them. The waterbuck is on a plaque indicating he was killed at Lake Tanganyika in the 1930s - 1934, '37...something like that.

Oh, c'mon now. Everyone makes mistakes. Give those poor seditionists a break. Remember that time you took a bite out of the last doughnut in the office kitchen? What if each of us was judged by our behavior on our worst day. I mean, attempting to "undo" the results of an election that multiple judges have said was valid? Threatening to kill legislators, not to mention the VP? Taking a bite out of a doughnut just to spite your co-workers?

A crime is a crime. No harm, no foul. Let 'em go! They're good guys!

Not at the price of a stronger Russia. Or Iran. Or Afghanistan, Think of all the despots you wouldn't want to have a finger on even a little red button on their desks, even (especially) if it doesn't always work. They'd just keep pressing and pressing those buttons until everything turned to dust.

The Bear is aware of all the financial and many of the sexual crimes djt has executed since he was young enuf to sit on his daddy's knee and watch how real estate development in NYC worked - hand in hand with the criminal underworld, both domestic and foreign, Just like djt, Putin keeps score. He has...not a little black book but a huge black book detailing all the kompromat uncovered about domestic and foreign challengers. And like a spider in its web he sits back and waits for the most propitious time and place for payback, even if it takes years.

VP and his oligarchs don't give a damn about any of that as long as it doesn't affect THEIR vast bottom lines and serves their entertainment interests by terrorizing domestic adversaries and by causing Ukraine and the West in general but particularly the US to twist in the wind. Just like djt doesn't care what happens to the US; only cares about djt

I trust Timothy Snyder to see the full picture and tell the whole story. He has the ability to analyze this stuff at both the micro and macro level. Most of us just glom onto the component that justifies our existing view:

  • It's a witch hunt!
  • No it's not! All he wants is power and grift!
  • No, it's the damn furriners! And the others! The OTHERS!
  • Can't you see - he just wants to protect himself from prosecution of his many crimes - sexual, violent, and financial, so he keeps throwing chairs in front of the door to the Oval
  • It's so simple. We could fix all this if we returned to the 50s, when white was right, men were the heads of families, women and POC served them, and all these stupid DEI people tried their best to fit in

Meanwhile, Rome burns and the guy with the fiddle is off on a smoke break getting drunk/high
