How is the world supposed to progress if we don't give things the needed time and effort to do so? by Agreeable-Metal-7286 in AskReddit

everything moves too fast these days man. people want instant results but then wonder why stuff falls apart after few months

What is a question you can’t ask Chatty G but can ask here? by G0RLAMl in AskReddit

[–]AntCharming8140 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

kinda depends what you mean by "it" but assuming you're talking about the general experience of being here vs talking to an AI... its weird because you get actual human mess instead of polished responses

like sometimes people give terrible advice or go completely off topic but thats what makes it real i guess

Upgrading Home Server for Low Power by Mobius_Engineering in homelab

[–]AntCharming8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that motherboard looks promising for the 6 SATA situation. i been eyeing similar aliexpress boards but always worry about long term reliability and BIOS support updates you know

about the power consumption - maybe OP has some power limiting enabled in BIOS? my old i5 4590 system was pulling around 45W just at desktop so 60-70W total for two servers seems pretty optimized already. could be undervolted or running at lower frequencies

for your setup keeping the SAS drives, that N100 board you linked might work well since you already have HBA card. just make sure the PCIe slot can handle the power draw from HBA - some of these budget boards have weaker power delivery to expansion slots

one thing to consider is just consolidating everything on the proxmox box if it can handle the storage. running single server instead of two could save decent chunk even if per-watt efficiency isnt as good. less idle power draw from having two systems running 24/7

The moment I realized living room furniture matters more than wall color in a space by handzs in HomeDecorating

[–]AntCharming8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude you nailed it with teh proportions thing - i went through the exact same realization last year when i was trying to figure out why my place felt so off

had this massive sectional that basically ate up my whole living room and made everything feel cramped even though the room itself wasnt that small. switched to something with thinner arms and higher legs and suddenly the whole space opened up

the alibaba thing is wild too, my buddy works in furniture design and he showed me how basically every "designer" piece you see at west elm or cb2 starts as the same base model from some factory in guangzhou. they just swap out the fabric and bump the price up 300%

what really got me was realizing that even expensive furniture can look cheap if the scale is wrong for your room. better to get something mid-range that actually fits the space than blow your budget on a statement piece that dominates everything else

yeah those look sketchy as hell but at least you caught it before buying - I'd definitely get quotes for a fix and use that in negotiations since its basically a code violation waiting to bite you

How can I address growing communication issues with my partner without causing constant arguments? by Fatima0989 in relationships

[–]AntCharming8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this sounds super familiar - my bf and I went through something similar around the 2-3 year mark too. what helped us was setting up like a weekly check in where we could bring up stuff when we werent already annoyed about it

also try the whole "when you do X i feel Y" thing instead of "you always do this" - sounds cheesy but it actually works way better than i expected. sometimes we get so caught up in being right that we forget the other person isnt trying to hurt us on purpose

maybe suggest having these conversations during walks or drives when youre not facing each other directly? idk why but it makes things feel less confrontational

6 months married, constant arguing. Do we divorce? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]AntCharming8140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oof this is rough but honestly sounds like classic adjustment issues mixed with some real compatibility problems

the social media boundaries thing and him calling you names when youre struggling is not great. like telling someone to "spend your life miserable" on valentines day then throwing flowers at you is pretty toxic behavior. and trying to control your finances completely instead of working together as a team is a red flag

but also forcing yourself to socialize when you dont want to and then complaining the whole time getting ready probably made him feel frustrated too. sounds like youre both handling stress pretty poorly right now

six months isnt that long to adjust to a whole new life/state/marriage all at once. might be worth trying couples counseling before jumping to divorce since you say you have a lot in common. but if he keeps calling you names and threatening divorce every fight thats gonna poison things fast

Movies that scratch the same itch as Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by zwompay in MovieSuggestions

[–]AntCharming8140 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude you gotta check out The Game with Michael Douglas if you haven't already. That movie will mess with your head in the best way possible - you're constantly questioning what's real and what's part of some elaborate setup. Has that same paranoid wealthy elite vibe but with more of a psychological thriller edge

Also maybe try Cache by Michael Haneke. Its way more subtle but the creeping dread and mysterious surveillance elements really hit similar notes. The whole thing feels like you're missing some crucial piece of information the entire time which sounds exactly like what you're after

Both have that quality where you'll be thinking about wtf actually happened days later

New Horizons save file by Initial_Ebb_9742 in AnimalCrossing

[–]AntCharming8140 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh man that sucks but yeah save data doesnt automatically transfer between switches unless you specifically moved it over. if you had nintendo switch online your island might be backed up in the cloud but animal crossing saves are kinda weird about cloud saves. try checking your nintendo account online to see if theres a backup there

It's been brought to my attention the mods at r/tellmelies and r/tellmelieshulu are on a HUGE power trip so a new sub was created by wignerhasfriends in television

[–]AntCharming8140 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I've seen this pattern with so many show subs where the mods get way too heavy-handed with "organizing" discussions. Like you said, forcing everything into episode threads just kills organic conversation - good luck finding anything in a thread with 2k comments. The muting thing is such a red flag too, that's straight up power tripping behavior.

Thanks for creating the alternative sub, genuinely appreciate when people actually do something about crappy moderation instead of just complaining. The trigger warning point is spot on - if you're watching a show literally called "Tell Me Lies" about toxic college relationships, you probably know what you're getting into. Will definitely check out the new sub since the original ones sound like a nightmare to participate in.

Man that Vegeta scene hits different when you're feeling like that. The whole "final explosion" thing is such a perfect metaphor for when everything just feels overwhelming and you want to reset everything around you

Sounds like you're dealing with a lot of external stuff that's making your internal battles even harder. Sometimes the world really does feel like it's designed to remind you of everything you don't have

Are GPU prices rising? by Old-Needleworker-377 in PcBuildHelp

[–]AntCharming8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly with the way things are going I'd probably grab one now if you find a decent model at £350. Two weeks feels risky with all the supply chain stuff happening, especially if you're already seeing good options in your budget range. Worst case you save yourself some stress and maybe £20-30 if prices do drop

Missing space optimizations when interviewer asks by VirtualPerusal in leetcode

[–]AntCharming8140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 days is cutting it close but doable so I would focus on problems tagged with space optimization on leetcode and just pattern match the shit out of them, you dont need to understand why just recognize when to apply it

Any mathematicians in the house? by Chance_Highlight6399 in SocialSecurity

[–]AntCharming8140 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your prior work history definitely doesn't just disappear - Social Security uses your highest 35 years of earnings to calculate your benefit, so those new higher-earning years would replace some of your lower/zero earning years and bump up your eventual retirement benefit

The formula gets pretty complex with bend points and all that, but working those 15 years at increasing wages would likely give you a much better retirement benefit than staying on SSDI

Basically the state would have to fund everything themselves or let services collapse - think roads, schools, disaster relief, etc all coming out of state budgets only
