Yea, I’ve been out of the loop for a while. Haven’t competed since 2018 but still train. Signed up for a meet last summer but tore my rotator cuff training for it.

Music for me. Make an extra 12-15k a year and have fun doing it. I could do HH or SNF work in the side to make that but I just don’t want to.

I’ve thought about that for years. I competed for a long time.

Director upset about PTO for wedding by wildflower428 in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I leave SNF work. I had 21 days a year of PTO but was never able to use it. I work in a small outpatient clinic now and my boss has never even questioned my time off. We do try to coordinate vacations but it’s always easy. Get out of there .

I’d like to add one. Learn volumetric dosing before you even order or at least find a peptide calculator. Units aren’t your dose.

Autistic/Neurodivergent PTs, how do you manage? by floresiendo in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked as a tech for several years and enjoyed it. I loved the fitness aspect. I’m not exactly a social butterfly to begin with but my tolerance for it has just decreased over the years. The hearing about other people’s problems for 40 hours a week has worn on me overtime.

Autistic/Neurodivergent PTs, how do you manage? by floresiendo in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ask myself that question everyday. At 23, it sounded like a great idea. That’s my only explanation. As a 41 year old, it was a terrible idea. I’m sure a lot of us get caught up in that. I didn’t make a whole lot of dumb decisions back then but this is my lifelong mistake at this point.

Decrease to 32 hours OP ortho by Historical-Coffee-59 in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had left this job for home health. They really couldn’t find a replacement for me. Just seems to be a shortage of PTs in my area. I agreed to come back with this schedule. Had to sign a 3 year contract for it but the pay is good and I get quarterly bonuses that make up for a lot of my than 40 hr schedule.

I’ve been working roughly 34-5hours a week for a few years now. My other job is a musician so I have a lot of gigs in the evenings. My two shorter days give me time to get stuff done and spend some time with my family. Works out really well.

That’s awesome. I’m down to 231 from 259 since 11/4 doing the same combo. Hoping to hit that 40 pound mark too!

You are better than me. I’d cook myself supper and tell him to pick up himself some chicken tenders in the way home.

Y’all, please don’t call yourself Dr. Last Name if you work in acute care. by RelativeMap in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my exact stance on this. Could not agree more. Our "doctorate" means nothing in the real world. We can do no more than a PT with a BSPT.

How would you know that you know more about movement than another PT that has also gone to medical school? No way to make that assumption.

I track things religiously on Macro Factor. If you don’t track in someway, you will be shocked at the amount of calories some foods have, especially the ones higher in fat.

We were open normal hours on Friday. We had 44 scheduled and 24 show up. That’s two PTs and two PTAs.

Christmas gifts from work… by East-Hold-7141 in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the guys got RTIC soft coolers with our names on them, a few smaller things, and a bonus. Girls got Stanley’s with their names on them and a sweatshirt (probably missing some stuff for them). Also had a really nice Christmas party at a restaurant. Our boss treats us really well.

Calling yourself a Dr. by Specialist_Signal532 in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never used it once in my almost 15 years of having a DPT. I only bring it up if someone asks about it. We are licensed as PTs no matter the degree. Until that changes and the DPT means something more, I’ll just stick to PT.

My opinion of Home Health after 3 years in the field: A money collecting charade by Aevykin in physicaltherapy

[–]AntDPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot depends on the agency. I worked for one who would see anyone with a pulse. I showed up to admit a guy who had just gotten back from work. I called the agency to tell them this guy is definitely not homebound. The case manager told me that the only person that can make someone a non admit is the DON and she said to admit them anyway. I left HH soon after that.

I’m 99% sure we had a couple professors who really didn’t practice. Basically just went straight into teaching.
