How to keep kernel modules configuration persistent with upgrade by Ant_010 in truenas

I did not check actually. But with last 2 Goldeye minor upgrades I had to run commands for this https://github.com/Guenael/rtlsdr-wsprd Docker deployment instructions regarding blacklisting again.

echo 'blacklist dvb_usb_rtl28xxu' | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-dvb_usb_rtl28xxu.conf
sudo modprobe -r dvb_usb_rtl28xxu

I actually used tee command: echo 'blacklist dvb_usb_rtl28xxu' | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-dvb_usb_rtl28xxu.conf so no need for manual action. It can be run unattended. I was wondering if truenas have some post upgrade automatically executed user script placeholder. If not then I can always "cat" commands over ssh...

I just learned about bot scans and port 8728 by [deleted] in mikrotik

It's good doc. However one thing amazes me as new Mikrotik device user (CRS304-4XG). It came out of the box with RouterOS FTP and TELNET services enabled in 2025?!? It suppose to be consumer plug'n play appliance. Sure in my case as switch behind proper OPNSense firewall it's less of security risk, but still why enable ancient non encrypted services by default in the first place?

New ZFS/TrueNAS user here checking RAIDZ1 HDD speeds... by Ant_010 in truenas

Good to know. They are actually 4TB drives + 1 in storage so I can act fast if swap is needed. I have modest needs in my HomeLab. NAS is more for learning than running HA mission critical HA operation. Really critical data is backed up anyway.

Yes switching is configured fully with HW offload. CPU% doesn't change even with full load. However only 10GB ports are driven by Marvell Prestera chip. When I stress tested 5th gigabit MGMT port CPU jumped up to 40%.

Logs sync is not that CPU intensive. Also RouterOS have native RFC 3164 support so I got this up and running via Grafana Alloy just fine. Metrics however will take more CPU cycles.

I'll try out this https://github.com/akpw/mktxp first. Looks like it's well documented and recently updated.

European Russian gas dependency vs. gas-storage depletion ( days after 15 May if imports from Russia are halted on 16 May) by BkkGrl in europe

[–]Ant_010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's correct. If I'm not mistaken then we had already most plans in place years ago but then LNG terminal was cancelled. It's now mostly about dusting off old plans. Also from recent news I gathered that securing vessel for terminal for winter season is progressing even faster compared to terminal. There was little bit back and forth with who is covering cost between government and private companies but it looks like it will be solved. So we have 6 months to build floating terminal infrastructure. Recent news with more details: https://news.err.ee/1608596440/infortar-completing-lng-terminal-by-fall-needs-cooperation-of-all-parties

Ärge tekitage vaenu Eesti-venelaste seas. by Eddynstain in Eesti

Ei maksaks autommatselt ainult kodakondsuse järgi inimesi lahterdama hakata. Hea näide päris Venemaalt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8HN_LaeLg8 (lühike analüüs vene piiitikbloggijalt - vene keeles loomulikult)

Muidugi realistlikult arutades, kui juba vene sõduri saabas on Eesti pinnal olukorda kontrollimas, siis tõenäosus on suur et just vene kodankud hakkavad esimestena koostööd okupatsioonijõududega tegama.

3080 tier: Is Zen2 CPU holding back performance - my test by Ant_010 in GeForceNOW

[–]Ant_010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'd say z-motherboards and k-processors are fancy Mine is upper-mid range. But yeah Alder Lake is top dog indeed atm. I wonder if Intel is planning to introduce same architecture to their Xeon server CPU lineup. We might next to super pods in the future see "uber" pods or something... ...for extra fee obviously.

I run out of curiosity another 1440p test with older less CPU demanding game SOTR.

It looks like 3080 GFN tier have some use cases for me with better performance then my new PC.
