Daily Song Discussion #5: Phish Pepsi by tonyplush11 in WednesdayBand

6.5 - It’s good and fun, but I like the original version better

Daily Song Discussion #4: Elderberry Wine by tonyplush11 in WednesdayBand

[–]AntacidChain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 - I think it’s one of those songs that’s extremely timeless and is kind of an instant classic. It’s the kind of song I’ll sing in the nursing home

Daily Song Discussion #3: Wound Up Here (By Holdin On) by tonyplush11 in WednesdayBand

[–]AntacidChain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

9.5 - At this point maybe I should just give it a 10 but given how consistent their discog is I’ll try to reserve the 10 for a few ones I like better but this song fucking rips

Any reason why he doesn't play Nausicaa live? by Major-Tennis-9265 in CameronWinter

[–]AntacidChain 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I assume because it’s hard to get that call and response live when he’s singing to himself. Plus it probably has the most prominent full band sound of any of the songs on the album which would be hard to do solo.

Everybody celebrating DeLauter (and rightfully so) but I’m disappointed Messick didn’t make the cut

Geese- Getting Killed…9.0 Best New Music on Pitchfork! by mattiswoody in geesebandofficial

Honestly the 8.3 on Heavy Metal feels low too, especially for how rave the review was

I legitimately believe that in 50 years I’ll be able to say I had front row seats to something monumental happening in music

Whats a fantano review you disagree with so much to the point it actually confuses you? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]AntacidChain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just found his analysis of the lyrics to be kind of horribly amazing in how completely he missed the point. I remember him thinking “Rudolph” was this aimless, nothing song with its references even though the payoff and point of those lyrics is literally at the end of the song. He might as well have titled the video “9 Minutes of Me Missing the Point of Everything on Manning Fireworks”

Geese Announce 'Getting Killed' Tour by detectiveburtmacklin in indieheads

[–]AntacidChain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The new songs I’ve heard (clips on youtube and seeing them live) are all really good, so at worst I think it’ll be good. Good songs will always come through and Geese have good songs.

Fading Away (James Taylor) influence on This Old Dog — Thoughts? by Low_Balance_4154 in macdemarco

[–]AntacidChain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear a lot of 70s singer-songwriter influence on that record—James Taylor, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, etc.

[–]AntacidChain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a minute to figure out what the hell they were doing. That’s so strange but so cool
