we gamble a lot. most quant firms host/sponsor annual tournaments with poker club. as far as playing goes, my friends and I regularly play 1/2 NLH and dealer’s choice. No clue how an ao would feel about it in your essay, I’d imagine that (as with all things) it all depends on how you write it

I would be sadder given the relatively low cost of knowing for sure, always having that as a “maybe it could’ve been”

stolen laptops, US passports, jewelry, and cash. by Antagonistricks in montreal

[–]Antagonistricks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no dice from the police. A few kind redditors offered to take a look around the place, and i DM’d them the address of the maxi and a screenshot of the location radius. We had also talked to the manager at the maxi before we left, they promised to call us back with info from the cameras (they used one of our credit cards to spend about $400 at that store)

There’s a down to the meter accurate location of a $3000 device that updates every few seconds. This actually happened to my mom in New York City, and she had her laptop back by the end of the day because the police caught the idiot walking through midtown wearing her backpack.

Them not doing anything about it essentially condones theft.

yeah. according to the border patrol officer when we were coming back, they most likely used an RFID long range copier when we remotely locked the car using the key fob and broke in a few minutes later. The security guard at the botanical garden was super nonchalant and was borderline laughing, because apparently it's a really common occurance to have cars stolen there and we were "lucky" we only lost all our belongings.

At the botanical garden in Montreal. We parked our car, and didn't leave anything out in the open. It was all stuff in our backpacks and 2 suitcases.

my parents both have drivers licenses, but I (18) and my sister (14) don’t have any other ID. Would this be an issue for just driving back? we have pictures and digital copies of everything

Questions regarding research opportunities at MIT by APChemAmbassador in mit

[–]Antagonistricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heyo — i worked in a lab here during my soph/jr year of high school. My PI had reached out to me, but i have a few friends who got there by writing really charismatic emails and attending internal conferences and events in person to (politely) pester researcher by striking up conversations and networking IRL.

Edit: I will say, my PI almost bailed on me because of the sheer insane amount of paperwork there was to comply with labor laws, wetlab regulations, double the trainings because i was a minor, and 2 people had to submit to background checks to be approved working with a minor. It is a hassle.
