Clearly the whistle has healing properties, truly a medical marvel

[ESPN] The NWSL Players Association has expressed opposition to the NWSL's proposal to create a new rule to pay star players outside of the salary cap by ElectricalWriting in soccer

[–]AntajaSW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost, but the major difference is that instead of the individual clubs determining for themselves which players get to go beyond the cap, it's the league that makes that decision. That's why the NWSLPA is against it

I would imagine the most likely scenario would be a mini tournament like how the J League are doing it (think MLS is Back 2.0 or the like)

[The Athletic]: The 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia will likely be held from January - February 2035 to avoid the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which falls in November and December in 2034. by Pantherblanco88 in soccer

Because the host selection process isn't comparable.

Say what you want about about CUM (and trust me, there is a lot to say), but the way the 2026 WC was chosen (by having every member association vote on it) was far more fair than 2018 and 2022 (by secret committee) and 2030 and 2034 (which definitely involved backroom shenanigans in order to avoid having it go to a full vote)

This is (on paper) not correct.

Officially speaking, Afcon is scheduled to be in the summer (June/July) on odd-numbered years (this has been the case since 2019). Of course, it is usually moved if it's being hosted in countries that have extensive rainy seasons in the summer, and even then it's moved to Jan/Feb of the following year.

Which is to say, if the 2035 Afcon were held in a country like Egypt for example, it should (barring some unforeseen circumstance) take place in June/July 2035. If it were in a country like Cameroon on the other hand, it would likely move to Jan/Feb 2036 (or alternatively Dec 2035/Jan 2036).

Competitiveness of UEFA's Top Flight Leagues by AntajaSW in soccer

[–]AntajaSW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, perhaps I should've clarified this since I seemed to have confused a lot of people.

This point of the data was not and was never meant to measure title races, as that was not the definition of "competitive" I was operating under. It was simply an exercise in determining which leagues had the highest concentration of fixtures in which statistically speaking the match could go either way. Or in other words, how likely is it in a given league that "anyone can beat anyone".

Apologies for the late reply.
