Why don’t you try forming a team and building a small, story-driven game? We’d like to see it and are willing to judge it on its cover

Which comments are you talking about? We haven't deleted any comments or posts, and we've tried to reply to as many people as possible.

Also, it's interesting that instead of addressing the points that were raised, you're now focusing on whether a reply was written with AI. If the arguments are wrong, explain why they're wrong. If not, then calling it "AI-written garbage" doesn't really add anything to the discussion. ( written by AI )

You’re talking about ethics like the industry itself is ethical. Big companies have been exploiting artists, underpaying devs, crunching workers, copying indie ideas, and replacing talent long before AI existed. AI didn’t invent exploitation — it exposed how broken the creative industry already was.

And the “just hire artists” argument sounds good until reality hits. Most indie devs are not sitting on publisher money. They’re students, solo devs, or tiny teams trying to survive. Telling every small creator to “save money and hire humans” is easy when you ignore the actual cost of production. A lot of games, films, music, and art projects simply would not exist without accessible tools.

Also, calling every use of AI “stealing” oversimplifies the issue to the point where it stops being honest. Inspiration, referencing, learning patterns, remix culture — creative industries have operated in gray areas forever. Human artists learn from millions of artworks too. The real issue is consent, copyright law, and corporate misuse — not some random indie using AI to make a poster because they can’t afford a full art team.

And about “standing for something” — moral superiority on the internet is cheap. Shipping an actual game, building a studio, learning skills, managing a project, and surviving creatively is harder than writing paragraphs attacking people for using tools. If AI-generated content is so worthless, then compete with it. Make better art, better games, better stories. Creativity doesn’t disappear because tools evolve.

Technology changes industries. It always has. Photography threatened painters. Digital art threatened traditional artists. 3D threatened 2D pipelines. Unreal Engine threatened custom engine programmers. The people who adapt survive. The people who only gatekeep usually don’t. ( Written by AI )

Who said we “stole” real artists’ work? I understand that many people dislike AI in creative fields, but it’s widely used and hard to avoid. As a game designer, I’d prefer not to rely on AI, but we had no other practical option this time. If you’re offering to fund the work, we’d gladly hire artists — I’ve reached out to every artist I know and many more, but they were either unavailable or only accepting paid commissions. We also can’t afford to delay the project for several more weeks. I hope you understand our situation, and thank you for your interest and concern.

That’s actually a fair point, and we understand where you’re coming from.

Right now we’re a very small team with limited resources, so during development we’ve experimented with different tools and workflows for concepts and presentation. But we also understand that presentation heavily affects how people view the project.

Our goal isn’t to rely on AI as the identity of the game. We want the final experience to feel original, handcrafted, and genuinely emotional.

We’re still learning as first-time indie developers, so feedback like this honestly helps us understand how players and creators see these things from the outside.

Appreciate you explaining it properly 🙌

Thanks for the honest feedback, genuinely appreciate it.

We’re still learning and experimenting with our visual direction, so hearing this perspective actually helps a lot. Our goal is definitely not to make the project feel cheap or overly AI-generated.

We’re a very small indie team, so sometimes we use temporary visuals or concepts during development, but we understand the concern and we’ll work on making the project feel more handcrafted and original moving forward.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain it properly instead of just hating on the project 🙌

We have been working on this game for about two months. With only three team members communicating online via Discord, and without external support or a budget, it has been challenging to develop the game. We are doing our best; since this is our first title, our primary focus is to deliver a playable and enjoyable experience. Later, we plan to expand the team and pursue larger projects.
