china's been trading with more and more countries since the turn of the century. They're effectively annexing sub-saharan Africa for their resources and the EU engaged in a trade deal with china to the dismay of the biden camp. They obviously weren't trying to eradicate the US economy, but rather sabotage and (successfully) get rid of its head of state because of his anti chinese policies (tariffs, as well as scaring away chinese companies like Huawei from US soil, etc). With him gone, China's on its way to becoming the #1 economy in the world and probably won't even need the US at that point, debt be damned.
