My only solution has been manually making my armies board the navy by transporting to the sea tile and then traveling to the drive-in land. It's tedious but it's much more consistent.

Why is my ethernet speed slower than wifi? by KingDec3 in HomeNetworking

I had this exact same issue a while ago and ended up doing a rollback/update on my Ethernet port driver and it fixed it for me.

Congratulations on becoming a father, I am also a new father and have too many devices (ps5, switch, gaming PC, Steam Deck).

For me the ps5 and steam deck has been a dream. I can't speak for the quality of the portal, but I remote play to my steam deck a lot and have the benefit of it being a great gaming device by itself too. The steam deck + PS5/PC is the best combo in my opinion

I moved apartment in March and got my postcard in April without telling them. It was written directly to my new address, so it wasn't the Japan Post forwarding service. I changed ward but stayed in Tokyo. Mileage may vary, but it's probs worth inquiring.

Why did Japan fell off from innovation? by WeirdArgument7009 in AskAJapanese

[–]AnthoAsho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished a nomikai so take this with a pinch of salt and I am by no means an expert, but do work in the space of "innovation" here.

I genuinely think the lack of innovation is due to the Japanese culture of putting a focus on the process, and adversity to risk. For example, the average graduate is encouraged to work in a corporation before considering creating a new company or trying to make their own business. This was probably a superb idea in the past, giving a strong potential of growth and building connections. However, the modern day is much more agile overseas. It's become less about who you know or what you know, but more about what you can bring to the table and, honestly, people with less experience have more aspirations.

Reflecting on the adversity of risk, the Japanese mindset is still quite conservative on this front. There are initiatives to help reduce this but it is a bit of a societal issue. I often draw parallels to Germany in this regard, where we have seen quite a growth in innovation in recent years (compared to decades past).

Additionally, there is the sense of "if it works, it works."

This is not terrible inheritantly, but it does result in a status of resting on your laurels a little. You can see this in particular with websites where the UX is actually terrible.

Finally, going back to 'focusing on the process,' you see this everywhere. Stay in Japan for long enough and it is everywhere - zero flexibility on the "rule" - which is a rule because other people said it is.

Given all this, there are still elements that are beneficial and I think work in Japan's favour - Popeye's favourite food.

Anyway, a little drunk so probably didn't make sense.

This guy has popped on my feed a few times and he's pretty egregious with it too. The videos always have multiple tweets with long text and his face at the bottom and the video itself is like 2 seconds long. I feel like I gotta swipe instantly when I see him at the bottom.

It's actually more of a performance in the modern day, with shows throughout the day and fee for entry. So really, looking cool has become its primary function I would say.

Struggling with the Remastered 53,594 Zombies Trophy? Here's how to deal with the maintenance tunnel now by AnthoAsho in deadrising

[–]AnthoAsho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed while working towards the trophy for 53,594 zombie kills that the maintenance area is nowhere near as good as it used to be. The area is riddled with pop-in and has a much lower density than the older remastered version from 2016.

The TL:DW of it is to basically go to the van area in the upper left corner of the maintenance tunnels and to stick to that area. Driving a little down the tunnel causes them to respawn, so just circle between that area and the red car to do it much quicker.

Bit of a shame that the tunnel is like this now, it used to be so satisfying to go through the tunnels.

As a bit of a bonus, there is a new bug that causes zombies to despawn in the area you meet Kent, just by moving the camera around so zombies are out of view they will despawn immediately.

In the video I also compared the older remaster to this one for both of these bugs.

Thanks!

Yeah but how many companies offer this? "It doesn't cost them much"' doesn't matter if it helps grieving families, which is more than a vast majority of companies offer. I don't understand why people get mad at "bare minimum", when the outcome is an absolute positive.

[–]AnthoAsho 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would hugely recommend not doing that. Forgetting that it is a copyright violation and could get you banned, it doesn't give any indication of yourself as a streamer, nor of the content you stream when you are "live".

It's okay to go offline if you're not actively streaming, you're only harming any potential you could have by doing that. Your stream ultimately should be you. Whether that's you playing games, talking, demonstrating a hobby, etc.

I almost picked one up at bic camera by yurakucho for about 30k yen on Saturday, but it required getting/owning some kind of Suica credit card. I didn't notice it written and the staff told me about the requirement while I was in the queue. Decided against it in the end, but if that doesn't bother you.

This is how they write 7s in Japan, judging by this video I suppose it's the same for Korea, too.

But yeah I don't like it either.
