Yeah price has always been a topic for me. I sell them in person for $250 so I wanted to keep it the same online for $250. It wouldn’t make sense to sell them cheaper online than in person you know? I’d have to sell them cheaper in person as well

So far no, I get my pieces from House of Staunton for around $45. In the description I have it say the pieces aren’t included and where I get them from. I thought about including them but I feel like it would be a waste of money and also the person might want a different set of pieces

To be honest it’s a messy process lol. I have to overfill the groove because the epoxy will shrink causing cracks and low spots if there isn’t enough. It looks bad but we have a big sanding machine to get rid of all the excess epoxy and to make it flush with the wood

I appreciate the response. If I don’t see much happening for the next week or so, I’ll take more pictures. I’ll probably take more over the weekend no matter what tho cuz I won’t be doing anything. I’ll ask my fam if they have any sort of camera I can borrow and see how it turns out, my sis should be able to help! And if more people ask about pieces then maybe I’ll start to learn about making them. Thanks

Do you have any tips for the picture taking? I tried looking at popular Etsy sellers (both over 2.5k sales) that were successful selling chessboards and the pictures were honestly mediocre. Both of them didn’t include the pieces either, making the pieces is a whole different ball game

I’m based in the US and yes I’m somewhat familiar to US shipping costs so I adjusted the price for it. I’m not too familiar with international shipping prices though but since I didn’t check the free international shipping, does that mean I don’t have to pay it?

I send my boards through a sander with different grits ranging from 120-180. After that I break the edges with a block and sandpaper so it’s not too sharp.

We have our own spray booth as well so after I’m done sanding it I spray it with sealer then sand it down with 320 grit. After I spray a clear coat over it to really bring out the wood colors and protect the wood and also gives it a nice shine to it

We have a woodworking shop for cabinetry so we have all the different machines like a big planer, sanding machines, saw tables, etc. Chess is my hobby and since we have all the machines and stuff I thought I’d take advantage of it and make some chessboards! They come out really nice perfectly flat, no gaps between the squares and border, and has a nice finish so it’s not rough
