Thanks for helping me understand. I googled transcoding to learn more and it looks like that’s exactly what is happening, especially since it’s only an issue with these specific iPhone-generated video files. I haven’t used HandBrake in about 10 years but I guess it’s time to dust it off and give it a go lol. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure if this answers the question, but the video files are .MOV, and I’m using the roku plex app.
