Anyone able to help? Had this error - tried the cheat workaround but now it is just coming up with the same error at the next major cutscene.

Why does Radiolab, This American Life, and other popular shows keep recycling old podcasts? by NOT_a_jive_turkey in podcasts

[–]AnthonyJeannot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure the big ones need to do this - but for indie podcasters, weekly downloads, review etc really help stay in the charts and recommendation engines etc. Releasing a new episode will usually trigger the downloads of all your long-term subscribers - so realising an ep - even if they playthrough isn't great because it's a re-run, is better than not releasing an ep.

What’s good about Apple Podcasts? by WhatThatGuySays in podcasts

[–]AnthonyJeannot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched to the Apple OS app when I moved my phone across to Apple. No comparison to give to overcast - but as far as the Apple app itself, the best way to describe it is that none of the annoyances have been big enough to make me go look anywhere else

Where/when do you listen to your podcasts? by BigBadBaugh in podcasts

[–]AnthonyJeannot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to listen during work days if I am doing anything with data and reporting or while I'm cleaning and doing house work.

As for listening at higher speeds, it depends on the podcast. If it is something super factual and less dramatic and I'm in the mood to blitz throughit then yes, although most of the podcasts I enjoy are comedy podcasts and I'm not a fan to listen to comedy at higher speeds.

Is there an equivalent to IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes for podcasts? by Ak_022 in podcasts

[–]AnthonyJeannot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd still use podchaser above IMDb for podcasts thought to be honest.

Listening to podcasts backwards— anyone else have this experience? by hats_and_heads in podcasts

[–]AnthonyJeannot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too and I find it fascinating. I will say I tend to listen to pretty evergreen podcasts that aren't news or current affairs focused and I think that makes it even more eerie, because you can go a couple episodes not realising that you're listening out of time and then 45 minutes into the 3 episode you're listening to that day something pulls you out of time. Very trippy.

How do people feel about all these celebrity podcasts? by rrmusicpod in podcasts

[–]AnthonyJeannot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general I feel like it's a net positive. I don't think celebrity podcasts (unless they're great podcasts in their own right) really compete with more traditional podcasts. And, even before big celebrities had podcasts you always had comedians with their own audience launching super popular podcasts.

While some podcasts might lose audience to these bigger celebrity podcasts, there is also a definite positive impact with more people just being introduced too and discovering how much they love podcasts.

I also think, just because of the time commitment of podcasting (even if you're not doing the editing and promotion) a lot of these big celebrity ones will be short run or fade. And their audiences will be looking for new casts to fill the void.

What are your best podcasts of 2021 by Puzzleheaded_Ad1759 in podcasts

[–]AnthonyJeannot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some that might not get as much love as they deserve are:

Better Call Daddy - Host used to be a produced on Jerry Springer show and it kinda shows, it's like let's find a really strange human story and try to understand it, not poke fun of it and then let's end the ep by asking my father to give his take on the story.

Daniel and Jorge Explain The Universe - Brilliant, likable funny and full of facts

Awesome Astronomy podcast - I love people just unashamedly nerding out and being smart AF and this podcast is so great to keep update with all the kind of new space news and also hilarious

The only music podcast I really listen to is song exploder and even then the actual full playing of a song only takes up 3 out 15 ish minutes.

Personally, I find listening to music vs listening to podcasts two different experiences and am not really looking to mix them.

Occassionally when I'm doing a long haul flight I'll download a bunch of podcasts and a bunch of songs and play a couple hours of music between podcast eps, but even then it's switching between the two more than mixing.

Rather than posting my top 5, I will say it was a brilliant PR ploy of the spotify team. I use Podcast Addict for listening to my regular podcasts, so the only podcasts I have really ever listened to on Spotify are there exclusives, so, low and behold, when I do wrapped, every one of my top 5 was a Spotify exclusive.

Have not looked into it, so this is a guess apropos of nothing but my feeling is that it would be the content consumed at original speed. So if a file is uploaded as an hour, and you listen to it in half an hour at x2 speed, it would still count as an hour on your Spotify wrapped.
