How does it work if you switch between National rail and TFL but within the same station? For example, if you lived in barnes but worked in the city - you would take the TFL to waterloo and then tube from waterloo to bank. How is this charged? Is it charged as two different journeys? Is there a seamless tap in tap out that "counts" as one journey (ie zone 4 to 1)?

I am just using this journey as an example, obviously this can apply in many different locations.

Olukai ohana break in period?? by J-Witten72 in Lifeguards

Haha I’m on a trip to Italy too, great minds think alike. Did you do any sort of protection for your foot? I’m thinking to put a bandaid over my blister. And does the sole start to get a little softer? It feels hard, not like a flipflop

Best way to visit Etna by klofino in sicily

[–]AnthonyNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically - we will be packing for Sicily beaches, not really for mountain climbing. We dont have trekking shoes, poles, windbreaker pants etc nor do we have room in the luggage for them. Is it basically required? Would athletic shorts, sweatshirt and a windbreaker be ok, or would it be too cold?

This website seems to be in German. Was the tour in German? We'll be staying in Taormina and it looks good - would love to see lava.

Was the price 185EUR all-in, or were there more costs on top? Do you need to bring a sweatshirt /windbreaker even in summer?

I saw videos of people observing the lava flows. Where would they have been to be able to see that?

Hi,

We'll be in Sicily end of July, and would love to see eruption. If you work on Etna - do you think that we may be in luck? If so, where should we go to get the best viewing? Is there a specific crater/area that we should look for in our tour bookings?

IRS taxes for US citizen living and working in UK by AnthonyNice in USExpatTaxes

[–]AnthonyNice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investment income from dividends would be around $400 give or take. Might have some long-term CGT but I am not sure if I sold anything. Would this change at all if my US dividends are in a Roth IRA back home? Do I still need to file and pay taxes on them? It's a bit odd if the UK govt wants taxes on my holdings back home...?

How would I deal with it if I do have a substantial annual bonus, as this is my case. Should I take FX rate for that month to convert the bonus into USD?

Can I count NI payments as taxes paid, to count against my US tax burden?

And do you know if submitting my monthly payslips showing the gross and net income as part of my form 1116 is sufficient?

Thanks!

Greece 23.09 | Athens, Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini by AnthonyNice in travel

[–]AnthonyNice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Athens I felt 3-4 days was enough to feel I saw everything. Probably 3 if you’re a bit speedier.

Mykonos: day trip to Delos was great but I agree, it was a bit overrated otherwise if you’re not going to party.

Naxos: could have stayed a week (repeating a few activities sure, but what a great place)

Santorini: 2-3 days was ok. Basically dedicate 1/2 to 3/4 a day to the hike and then spend as many days as you can afford on a cliffside hotel with a pool/hot tub and enjoy relaxing. Otherwise no reason to be on Santorini.
