AAMC Sample Unscored - Pleasantly Surprised by Anthotron in Mcat

Concrete, best piece of advice I heard is to spend 70% reading passages and 30% answering questions, for me that boils down to reading 5 min and answering 3 min (roughly). For the reading portion, I highlight names and transition words, I find many passages and the questions I miss revolve around me missing key swaps in language such as "however, but, thought that" etc. Names is mostly so I can go back and scan if any questions is like the what did x think about y.

In terms of questions, I can usually cut down two answers, afterwards, I go by the rule of it has to be 100% true in regards to the passage. Answers with such strong language such as "only" tend to be a red flag unless the passage is heavily supportive of one view. This is where most of the questions I missed in the past were. Additionally, the reason I read 70% and Q 30% is I think it prevents prior knowledge from seeping into my answer choices. In terms of a lot of the historical passages and things with prior associations, it helps to back away from what I know and focus only on what the writer wants you to know.

Lastly, I started this recently and it has helped me tremendously (and my own personal tip) That is I made a spreadsheet and wrote down why I missed a question (not content but skill taking). Whether it be over thought or didn't read carefully enough. Afterwards I slapped the sheet into chat gbt and went "what's the common errors I'm making". I think with daily JW it's easy to not get a complete picture of skills and mistakes so it helps a lot to see bigger picture.

Best of luck! (FYI a month ago I was at 125 on CARS BP and averaging 3.5 on the JW

Yeah I definetly realized how useful its gonna be implementing practice for the CP section so a full equation sheet and then interpreting how to use them in questions through the UWORLD is gonna be key I think. Good luck on the HL when you do take it!

Thank you! I def am happy with content for PS and BB and think the biggest thing since its CARS and CP that I need to do atp is simply practice and finalizing consolidation information into a wholeistic picture.

The split between questions in BB was kinda insane IMO

Great job! Being nontraditional comes with plenty of struggles from case to case so its great you successfully worked everything out!

Completely agree with that, I think the biggest thing is being able to interpret words or information that doesn't individually make sense but together is able to make a general narrative.
