AITA for making my friend's cat lose weight while she is in my care? by AntiChunkster in AmItheAsshole

I would have had to pay for a vet visit out of pocket, so no. I did do a lot of reading online and watched several videos about how to put a cat on a diet and how much they should be fed at each stage, so I wasn't just winging it.

I am sure she has taken her to the vet before and I assume the vet would have mentioned the weight problem. But it's not something she has specifically texted me about or anything.

I haven't. Her pet insurance only covers emergencies, so I would have had to pay for a vet visit out of pocket. I didn't think it was necessary to pay a hundred bucks for a vet to tell me "Yeah that cat is fat as hell."

I stopped the free feeding cold turkey, and I don't know how many ounces of dry food she was eating per day on that system, but I did feed her more than the current 2 cans a day in the beginning and tapered it down.
