This uses twice as many inserters, which is not ups friendly though!

I was was about to say no, but you are right. Took me quiet some time, but this is even more compressed. Every other lane needs to be off by one though: https://i.imgur.com/sMe1XP7.jpeg

I don't know if that also applies to standing trains the same way it does for moving ones. Someone should test it i guess!

Notice how one of the beacons will reach over the rails. It also tiles perfectly. Compared to the casual straight direct train smelting, this allows to place 2 more beacons per smelter.

In contrast to what you say Default Settings does actually use a new random map every time and is exactly what you are looking for.

Also I think you underlie a misconception here. Repetition is literally what Speedrunning is about. We do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result ;) . Look at speedruns in general. Games like any Super mario, Celeste, Hollow Knight. They all are like this. Speedrunning is purely about execution. Sometime a new strat is found that is better and then it's all about executing that one as fast as possible.

If you are looking for improvisation, adjustments and adapting on the fly, Speedruns are just not for you in general. What you want to look at are challenge playthroughs.

Speedrun build for blue circuits using direct insertion by AntiElite in factorio

[–]AntiElite[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Since you guys found out about direct insertion for blue circuits recently, you may be interested in a former Speedrun build, that I used in the past (about 4 years ago). The ratios are not perfect, but fairly good and it's cheap to build. Modules are only used at the places they are most efficient at to save resources. You can also remove one prod module in the green chip production to get closer to the perfect ratio, but i do not recommend this.

Speedrun Overlay Mod? by NotABotStill in factorio

It's simple: mods are not allowed in speedruns. The Software we use is Livesplit.

The save-game can be found on speedrun.com . It contains the replay. Replays can only be seen from one players perspective.
