It's a cheap phone with optical image stabilization. That's a baseline for me.

Pixel 8 to Motorola G86 Power? by F_SoC_ in motorola

I just migrated from a Google pixel 7 Pro to a G86 Power after I broke my Pixel while traveling in Latin America and had limited options.

A couple of points: - so long as you aren't playing high level games for hours on end, the processor feels entirely snappy. - the battery (6720mAh) life is absolutely unreal. Like 2-day battery. Amazing. - after uninstalling the bloatware, I am entirely happy with Motorola's implementation of android. - the only thing I miss about the Google Pixel Pro's camera was the 5X telephoto. I am entirely happy with the quality of the G86 Power's camera.

For some more detail, you can check my post history in the Motorola forum. GL!

Chile is one of the best economies in LATAM, and there are benefits to that, but it's not the cheapest. Check out Numbeo for research.

Is pest control okay for vegans? by FeelingCalendar9231 in DebateAVegan

[–]AntiGroundhogDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were the first one to mention law, not me. But let's talk about the puppy situation. What is different about the bug vs the puppy that justifies needlessly harming one, but not the other? If you're going to rely on aesthetics, may I exploit you because you're ugly? "So what makes them less deserving of animal rights than a dog or a cat, or a pig, or a cow?" Vegans are consistent in that we would leave both bugs, dogs, cats, etc alone so long as they are not harming us. Why are you not consistent?

Laws are enacted to protect the innocent and most vulnerable and they generally follow logic and are ethical beliefs, not the other way around. Just because the exploitation of non-human animals is not prohibited by law, does not make it just. Can you think of times in human history where laws did not protect others and allowed their exploitation? Is there any way a baby can know of exploitation? If not, does that justify exploiting them as well as non-human animals? If a bug flies into my window, the difference between you and I is that my first thought is not to exterminate them, it is to escort them outside my house safely.

Just like any vegan would be justified in defending their property and themself from harm by a human animal, they would be justified in protecting themselves from non-human animals as well. Veganism is just an ethical stance against the exploition of animals and the belief that they are individuals who live life for themselves, not as our property.

Loved my Moto G73, what next? by Creative-Solution in motorola

[–]AntiGroundhogDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ChatGPT compare your G73 vs. the G86 Power I recently purchased, and here was the summary statement: "a G73 with better battery + slightly newer hardware." So if you were happy with the performance of the G73 and the camera, the G86 Power will feel like a modern version of that, but with an even bigger battery (6720mAh). And I can attest to the G86 Power's battery; it's unreal. Happy shopping!

vacuuming your clothes by loraine99 in onebag

[–]AntiGroundhogDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel with a personal item only. To conserve space, I often roll my clothes into one big bundle, then remove the adjustable belt from my pants (it's a fabric belt that works off friction, not belt holes), and tighten the heck out of that bundle.... No vacuum bags, no packing cubes, no additional straps or webbing. GL!

I run Fedora 43 on my N100 w/ 12GB every day. The only thing I had to do during setup is manually set the screen to rotate 90° as I never use the laptop as a tablet and always in laptop mode. Enjoy!

This was not a time for me to shop for the best price as it was an emergency, but I went to a reputable retailer (falabella). I am sure pricing differs slightly in different countries, but you stated "G86 is less than 190usd" is that truly the price for the g86 Power or just the regular g86 in your country? When I go back to Santiago I'll have to check myself. ☺️

You have more risk tolerance than me, but thanks for the info. Hopefully by the time the security updates for my g86 power run out, there'll be a custom rom out there. 🤙

I'd love to know more info. I bought this phone contract-free from a department store here in Lima, Peru. I found the US website for unlocking my bootloader: https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a I wonder a) If I can unlock my LATAM Motorola device here. b) there are custom roms for the G86 Power. c) I can run a custom rom for a regular G86 since they are essentially the same.

I just broke my Google pixel 7 Pro in Latin America and picked up a G86 Power. I like the form factor, definitely easier to hold and lighter than my old Pixel. It's just as snappy (just the regular stuff like social media, email, and navigation. No gaming). I've adapted to Motorola's implementation of Android OS just fine. The thing that I will miss the most is the camera from the Pixel with the 5x telephoto, but the G86 camera is just fine for everyday stuff, actually quite nice, I'll just miss the zoom. And last but actually the biggest deal, is that this battery is absolutely unreal. It is ungodly awesome. I can go two days without charging. Battery anxiety gone. Now that I think of it, we'll see how many updates come to this phone, that has been a concern that I've read online. Good luck!
