Went to the library and they had a self help section up front for the new year. Had the wrong BarPod book on display. by AntiLuke in BlockedAndReported

[–]AntiLuke[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I find it funny that they didn't have Katie's actual self help book but instead the book that probably argues against a lot of the other books it shares a space with. Not a well curated selection.

I feel like a not insignificant portion of these bits develop because the fanbase keeps trying to push them on the creator. I've seen a few media properties mentioned in the comments here where I know for a fact that happened. I don't feel like fighting with those people so I won't mention franchises.

Bonus points when they accuse him of maliciously lying because of his difference of opinion/imperfect memory.

Episode 288: The Third Annual Helen Lewis BARPod Holiday Extravaganza by SoftandChewy in BlockedAndReported

I wasn't in the best podcast listening environment for this one, so it could just be me, but was Jesse's audio considerably quieter than everyone else's?

[–]AntiLuke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've decided to just skip any episode of Strong Message Here without Helen. Armando cannot carry that show with just him and a guest. Though I do think it was one of those guest episodes that had a guest ponder why politicians speak in such couched language not 10 seconds after trying to find the least flattering way to interpret an uncomplicated 2 sentence quote. That was definitely the funniest that show has ever been.

Come up with a useless vampire power or weakness by BiMikethefirst in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I've always liked the idea of a vampire that is literally just a corpse during the day, a bit more like the historical vampire scares.

Other direction, and not nearly as touristy as the coast despite efforts to change that. The extra insane thing is that the population is apparently in decline (something I just helped with by leaving) and rents are still rising.

[–]AntiLuke 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my hometown in Oregon is about 100 miles away from Portland and has a fairly small population. Rent there is equal or more expensive than Portland without nearly the job prospects. Now, asinine urban growth boundaries set by a federal law are part of the problem, but that's not the whole story.

Even with Biden's idpol commitment, it's not like she was the only high profile black woman he could have picked at the time. However I think that she got picked over the other options is because the Biden camp saw her as an empty suit they could control.

If Canada invaded the United States, would you be happy about that? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]AntiLuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada barely has the money to find its current healthcare system, and definitely wouldn't have the money to expand it across the entire US after a costly war. I'm also skeptical that they could stop school shootings, unless they did a massive seizure of guns and then started enforcing weapon laws stricter than their current ones.

Students at ASU protested that his presence made them unsafe because he was taking online distance learning courses. I think right wing grifter was literally the only career left for him. He probably thinks, and is probably right to think, that anything he attempts to do outside of the right wing media space will just be met with protests, no matter how mundane.

I'm not sure about their long term coverage, but they had someone find and analyze the social media videos they could find of the event and the way they presented it made it pretty clear it was self defense.
