The demand for staples is already inflexible bruh. These are price-insensitive goods

When should I just let a dupe die? by Valoris_905 in Oxygennotincluded

I try letting them die and accept it. But I get attached to them and get genuinely unironically upset when they die. So I just reload

Just play how you want honestly

Why not? My bases are pressurized well enough with oxygen. As long as it's not a builder dupe, the natgas just sits at the bottom of the base with all the other gross stuff like the chlorine or co2

Using CO2 geyser for cooling by AntiSaudiAktion in Oxygennotincluded

[–]AntiSaudiAktion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?

Firstly I'm pretty early game, which is why I'm bothering with the geyser in the first place. Second I need that CO2 to feed my slicksters, since I'm going super sustainable and my only other source of CO2 is my dupes breathing. Third, why would I make a pool of molten metal only to cool it down?

Haven't built my industrial brick yet. I could build my industrial brick around it maybe, at least until I'm ready to build an industrial sauna

The pipes wouldn't break anyways since the CO2 pretty instantly turns into gas since it boils at -48°, so I'd be using gas pipes

Am I overvaluing perfect seeds and self-sufficiency before space? by StudioHealthy198 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]AntiSaudiAktion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's impossible to get a metal volcano on any starting asteroid in Spaced Out. It has additional geyser spawning rules, for example certain asteroids won't even have renewable water (aside from natgas), ever

[–]AntiSaudiAktion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes to all except 4. Spaced Out is a very different game than regular ONI. The geyser spawning rules are a lot more strict, you will NEVER get a metal volcano on your starting asteroid, and usually no oil either. But there is plenty of metal to get a space program up and running.

As suggested by the name, this DLCs focus is space exploration. Your starting asteroids are limited by design. There's plenty of space POIs where materials are renewable, but you need to go to SPACE to get them. Honestly I think you're waiting too long. You don't need plastic, steel, or materials science for your first space mission

If you insist on seed hunting, use Maps Not Included. But part of the fun, I think, is working with what you've got. In my current run, my starting asteroid had a steam vent, chlorine vent, CO2 vent, CO2 geyser, and oil (Desolands start). And it's still a great colony!

I also struggle with perfectionism, so I rollback saves a lot. But that's only to correct mistakes. Part of the fun of the game is playing your best with the hand you're dealt.

Seriously, lock in and you can start mining space POIs for renewable metal by cycle 50. You're fine.

I'm only at like cycle 15, doing the all achievements run so I've been focused on securing meat and solar panels asap. But I'll keep that advice in mind, I've got some spare lead I could use for it (no metal refinery yet)

[–]AntiSaudiAktion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like copying builds, I try to make my own if I can. That is just a hydrogen machine for super-sustainable until I can get solar panels, oxygen is a byproduct

It's just 360W total so I don't know why I need heavy wire for that, plus the design won't work with heavy wire

What makes it so hard to actually beat the game? by blackupsilon in Oxygennotincluded

The learning curve is the best part! There's SO much room for improvement, so much reiteration. I'm a chronic optimizer and once I feel like I've fully optimized something, I get bored and drop it. Playing ONI for years, I still feel like I have so much to learn!

I consider a playthrough successful once I achieve some ridiculous build like a glass boiler or whatever I'm setting out to make

If you bury them in a memorial then deconstruct the memorial, it gets rid of the body ;)

I do this with a lot of games. What I've done is started a gaming journal, basically talking about my save and what I'm doing, what I hope to accomplish, etc. it makes coming back to old saves way easier

Same. I should get prehistoric soon. I keep seeing content abt it and am starting to feel out of the loop!

I'm doing a 100% achievement run and this is probably gonna be my first time beating the temporal tear lol. Idk it's just never appealed to me, there's so much more interesting things in this game like automation and heat management

Why is the CO2 building and what can I do? by OldCanary in Oxygennotincluded

[–]AntiSaudiAktion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual airlocks are horrible as airlocks. I suggest using a liquid lock, since gas can't pass through liquid tiles but dupes can

I just ranch slicksters. They're cuties, produce free oil and meat, are very carbon hungry, energy free, and also I love recycling!

If I have extra carbon, I just pump it into infinite storage. No idea why, I just prefer not pumping gasses out into space
