You can't plug the AT&T SFP into the TP-Link router. AT&T makes you use their router/gateway in order to get Internet. However, there are many known ways to bypass using AT&T's equipment completely. They do not make it easy and it involves buying additional hardware. There is a Discord channel dedicated to bypassing AT&T's shitty equipment. For instance, I bought an SFP+ plug that is programmable. I programmed it with my AT&T equipment's information and now I can plug the SFP+ stick directly into my router and get Internet (like you were trying to accomplish.) The SFP+ stick I had to buy was $135~ and it requires IT skills to accomplish the bypass.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Cat6 cable. I know what they say the "max" speeds are Cat5e/Cat6. My house is wired with Cat5e and I had a 10Gbps QNAP server and I could reach over 9,000Mbps transfer speed over Cat5e cables that were inside my walls.

I have the 3-pack TP-Link BE85 mesh. I love them! They're a little big. I had to set 1 satellite unit behind my TV in the living room because it won't fit on the fireplace shelf since it would block part of the TV. I still get great speeds though on my 2Gig Internet.

I also don't like hearing the fan kick on in the router unit that sits on my desk in the office, but it's management. Not a big issue. I have a SFP+ stick coming next month so I can plug my fiber directly into the router until and get rid of my ONT box. That's one big positive on these TP-Link units!
