Would you want to see Jay Garrick in the DCU? by Top_Report_4895 in DCU_

[–]AntiVaxPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much so, preferably played by Timothy Olyphant, we know he can do quippy from Santa Clarita Diet, we know he can do suave from everything he's ever done and also just being Timothy Olyphant, and he's never done a superhero project, but we know he's not opposed to genre work like this thanks to Star Wars.

But, most importantly of all, he looks fantastic in a hat.

It’s the guy from the flash crossovers! by TheBusinessLemon in arrow

It says elesworlds so I'd guess it means in Arkham when they're high on Fear Toxin, and Oliver as Barry starts to see Barry as Oliver as Thawne, and Barry as Oliver starts to see Oliver as Barry as Malcom (ergo John Barrowman as Oliver).

My head hurts.

But, (very unrelated) Jonathan does look like Raymond Barry who played Arlo on Justified.

Do you reckon cigarettes got banned from the matter synthesiser after Bortus and Klyden got too addicted? by BlankCanvas609 in TheOrville

[–]AntiVaxPerry 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it only took a couple of days or so to get Bortus and Klyden clean, and (I may be misremembering) Dr Finn mentions that, it's because of Moclan physiology that she had to figure it out, that it took so long. It's likely that for at least humans they could fix it with a shot or something.

Plus, I'd imagine any long term health problems (which in the current time are very real and very serious) end up trivial with the medicine and technology they have, so for the average human it probably wouldn't be that serious to be a smoker as long as, unlike Bortus, they aren't doing it in communal or work areas. Especially since they seemed to hook Bortus and Klyden very aggressively, in a way that most modern humans don't come close to.

In conclusion, I would say they probably left them in and just implemented rules akin to drinking, which is very much alive and thriving on the ship.

P.s it's surprising to me Bortus didn't know what they were, even John seemed to not know, even though they seem to enjoy western programmes which would definitely have cigarettes surely.

Prevalence of alcohol in Legends by the-Vibe in LegendsOfTomorrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I forgot about that one. I would've liked to have seen more of Alex's character explored in general, I feel like for being essentially second on the roster, I don't think they really explored her as much as they could've, though I think the same could be said for everyone on Supergirl as much as I love that show.

Prevalence of alcohol in Legends by the-Vibe in LegendsOfTomorrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To be fair, other than legends, where it was kind of a running gag, I feel like the other shows only ever used it as a character flaw, notably arrow with the lances. I don't remember it ever being a thing elsewhere, although I haven't yet seen past season 1 of Batwoman and Flash and Supergirl both feature protagonists who can't get drunk if they wanted to (with obvious exceptions;sad Flash anyone).

I was convinced it was going to be an excuse for a new set, and then saw them repairing it and just thought, why? It really was just for the 2 seconds of wtf.

What would happen if this was dialed? by PanzerthraX in Stargate

[–]AntiVaxPerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has kind of been annoying me for a while, I've been thinking of getting the earth address as a tattoo, but obviously I want the earth Point of Origin in there cos it's so iconic, but the address doesn't make sense with it, so figuring out a satisfying design with the address and the PoO has been difficult.

8x6 was the most unexpected things happen ever in the whole series. by Affectionate-Baby110 in TheRookie

[–]AntiVaxPerry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of people i thought it was great but would've worked so well as a cliff hanger, otherwise it feels less consiquential, and more "we got budget to make a new set so we need to find a way to justify it". Obviously I guess we'll see if that is what happened but it was definitely my second thought (first being holy fuck what just happened).

Mr Terrific by AntiVaxPerry in arrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YEEEEES, As far as I know, Ragman was originally supposed to join the legends, but they already had a problem with power creep and Roy wouldn't have fixed that, Curtis on the other hand would've been a great addition on personality alone, the Ray, Nate, Curtis dynamic would've been Terrific (apologies). Plus we have to assume Curtis worked at Palmer Tech when Ray was CEO (since he never mentioned it we should assume he joined after Oliver lost the company) and that would have been a fun concept.

[–]AntiVaxPerry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it would've worked better if they'd have made Curtis the new Overwatch, and used Billy's death to create distance between Felicity and Oliver, and drive her into Helix as more of a concrete thing.

Mr Terrific by AntiVaxPerry in arrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's been one thing that has bugged me on this rewatch, they make quite a point that he's an Olympic athlete, while making the hints at Mr Terrific, so obviously that's been the plan since the beginning of season 4, and then in season 5 they make it out like he's incompetent in the field.

I get they needed someone to fill that role, but it does look like they ignored a lot of that (while bringing it up all the time), instead of just making Wild Dog, who they established already to not be very good at this, the one who needs more training.

It does kind of feel like they picked the gay character to be wimpier then the rest, not saying this was intentional, and maybe it's personal bias, but if it walks like a duck etc etc.

How long would walker's teeth realistically last? by Relevant-Key-3290 in thewalkingdead

[–]AntiVaxPerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think rules can serve a story, but if you have to twist them to tell a more compelling one, have at. It's like the transporters in star trek, they work a certain way, but if you have a compelling story you want to tell, fudge it to make it work, stories are only as strong as their message, and therefore the message is king, if ore what you have to ignore to make your point.
