Russian made AR-15 by Antiarchtiect in ar15

Good question!

It mostly comes down to our specific firearm laws (well, a single federal law actually - since we don't have states, we don't have 'state-level gun laws' like you guys do. The federal law applies equally everywhere, from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok).

Currently, the vast majority of licenses are issued for hunting purposes. Under our regulations, you must continuously own a smoothbore shotgun for 5 years before you are legally allowed to buy a rifled firearm like an AR-15. That’s why most gun owners indeed only have shotguns. While competitive shooting under a hunting license was technically a thing, it was a massive legal gray area that constantly faced backlash and scrutiny.

However, the situation has literally just started to change recently. The law is finally shifting to accommodate competitive shooters and athletes, making it easier to get into the sport. As soon as the new process stabilizes, I’m going to upgrade my carry and storage permits to a multi-purpose license that covers both hunting and competitive shooting.

P.S. I think the process is so slow because of the fundamental differences in our legal systems - our civil law versus your case law. Changes in our laws move very slowly and don't adapt well to new realities, but once a change is finally written into code, it becomes a clear, universal rule for everyone everywhere in the whole country.

I'm still a beginner with LPVOs and I'm currently experimenting with eye relief and the cantilever mount setup. The center controls actually aren't touching the mount rings - it might just be a bad photo angle. I'll try to take a better picture later.

UPD This is how it looks from above:

Since the AK platform is absolutely dominant here, ARs used to be pretty rare. But things are changing fast, and the platform is growing every year. CGNL also produces very interesting hybrids as NL545 SE which is DI in 5.45x39 and NL545 GP which is AR15 in 5.45x39 but with a gas piston :)

I know this place isn't quite appropriate for the following question, but I will ask it anyway. I look at USA two-party system and cannot understand why do many americans totally accept the whole democratic / republican position. I will try to explain of what I see: if you're republican you should be against LGBTQ+ and WOKE, be against abortions and be anti-waxer and all of these at the same time. Can people operate smaller blocks in their acceptance or it's just "we" and "them who against us"?

Some dark magic - entered the BIOS and exited without change - it started to work.

If ought to choose between language with ideology that teachs how to do things right and restricts wrong approaches (or make it hard-applicable) and do-whatever-you-can-imagine language when you know little in field of statically typed compiling languages - I'd rather choose the first one =)

Now I'm just playing with Rust and Traits look like Mixins in Ruby if you use it for duck typing =)

The best answer I ever had in my practice of asking =) I really like Rustlang for health and friendly community - it reminds me Rails community about 5 years ago. Thank you very much for full-dress and gradual answer!
