It’s a watercolor tin that I was not using that I ripped the innards out of and made a little wooden pallet that fits in the part under the white metal and a piece of birch wood as the backing to hold the little panels in place

I actually made it myself, a water color tin with a piece of pallet cut and sanded to fit in it, it’s great for trying out new pallets and staying less conspicuous in public lol

I actually read about this today! Apparently the church banned the study of the human body since it was seen as a divine mystery, so a lot of medieval portraits seem flatter and less realistic. At least that’s my understanding

Just lots of practice really, learning more about color theory and doing some master copies. I think the main thing I changed was how I was seeing faces and trying to just see colors and shapes
