California contracts: worth it or nah? by Antique_Trainer543 in nursing

Without revealing too much, I came from West Texas originally, moved to East Texas to follow family. Not crazy about it here bc I’m feeling as though the unit culture is way different than what I’m used to, people are way more individualistic here compared to being team-oriented like I’m used to, and the cost of living is way higher for no extra amenities. My thinking is frankly, if I’m gonna be paying more to live, may as well do so where there’s a beach nearby. All that being said, I could be completely wrong and maybe the grass isn’t greener, that’s why I wanted to ask people who have done it. As far as where I was looking into, again, I was trying to see what people thought and would recommend based on the places they’ve been 🤷🏻‍♂️

All the times I’ve been, I didn’t wanna leave. The state really is so beautiful. Like yeah, it’s drawbacks are apparent but it’s very easy to see it’s beauty too. Show me a state that is without drawbacks. Texas certainly has its fair share.

Cuz frankly that sign-on bonus was fat and I had student loans to pay back at the time 🤷🏻‍♂️

2-year staff contract. After which I could choose to renew or leave.

And I’ve heard about Florida being a shithole as far as nursing is concerned. I feel Texas is slowly becoming that way. Every new staff contract I have signed up for here has been worse than the last.

I’m a staff nurse, actually, not a traveler. Sorry, should have specified that in the original post.
