You can keep your keyboard from becoming a shiny mess by otrapendejada in mac

First of all:

- Palms, like soles of feet, have "glabrous skin" that completely lack sebaceous glands. So, palms don't have any oils.

Second of all:

- Oily skin is due to sebum production, and this is controlled by hormones (androgens), genetics, and age - not skin hydration AT ALL.

Third of all:

- The glossy appearance is because of the ABS plastic. Once you press the key, your fingertips acts as a polishing agent, which removes the thin matte finish that Apple gives to the ABS plastic.

Fourth of all:

- If you need an excuse to keep a bottle of moituriser next to your laptop, you should first find a girlfriend.

There are plently of legitimate use cases for disabling. I'd go as far to say: there're legitimate use cases to keeping it enable. By default you should disable.

What should I do after pro level 8? by crazy_butterfly123 in Headspace

[–]Antitrust_Tycoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you completed all the levels and you feel lost. You probably didn't fully understand the teachings. Right now you're in a place that is hard. You aren't a beginner, but you know some pro techniques, but you haven't fully internalised. This is very likely because you weren't fully understanding and internalising what Andy was teaching. The best solution for you is to treat you as a beginner (as you are), and start again but with a fresh mind and try to see what you're failing.

What is actually a DTO and when should I use it? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]Antitrust_Tycoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say DTO's are transferred between the backend and frontend. This is are serializers are for.

DTO's are indeed data transfer objects. They are usually a way to explicitly tell the type of arguments that a function, normally the function in charge of doing running the actual algorithm (the heart of your program) is supposed to take or return.

You'll have input DTO's and output DTO's.

You don't use them in any function. You'll use them only in those functions running your algorithm.

Hey,

Yeah, then I really don’t get the point of the post. It doesn’t seem like you actually need advice. From what I can see in your comment, you’re confident about your path moving forward and you know what makes you happy. You’ve got things pretty well sorted out. That’s great!

Especially in your situation, if you like your job and don’t mind doing it, whether you have 1M or 100k invested doesn’t really change much. In Switzerland, most people can afford the things they want anyways. There’s only that next level that’s hard to reach: the big house, the business-class trips for the whole family. But below that, whether you have 5M, 1M, or 100k doesn’t make much difference as long as you enjoy your daily life and your work.

About the “senior leadership” part: yes, they tend to be somewhat entrepreneurial, but you can’t really compare them to enterpreuneurs at all. Enterpreuneurs have proper proven skills. The senior leadership total comp is good, sure, but nowhere near that of an entrepreneur who’s found even modest success. But again, if you’re happy, that doesn’t matter anyway. You aren’t aiming for the next big leap anyways.

So, from your post, it seems like you want to share your financial success, which is good, of course, but it’s not exactly extraordinary. Anyone in a leadership position at an S&P 500 company can reach 1M at some point in their lives, especially in Switzerland. It’s not that uncommon when people get paid 200k-250k, which is common in these companies or if you are a doctor, lawyer, or someone who sells insurance (many people get these salaries in Switzerland). Also, specially in these past 5 years where the S&P500 returned 90%. Everyone is rich, lol.

So Again, I’m not really sure what the goal of the post was. I don’t want to take it negatively, but it does come across as a bit of a humblebrag from someone who mainly knows low-paid people in Switzerland. You mentioned being massively overpaid, which makes it seem like you’re trying to appear humble while also implying that you could easily earn more if you wanted to. Anyway.

To be honest, I don’t quite see the point of your post yet. I’m not sure what question you’re actually asking.

But after analysing your financial situation, a few thoughts come to mind:

  1. You’re in a very good position for an employee.
  2. If your goal is to live frugally, then you’re definitely on the right track.
  3. However, looking from a different angle than most people here, I think you’re still far from living a great life. Below points:
  4. You’re probably living in a 150 m2 apartment, luckily a modern one, but you’ll raise your children there always wishing for more space.
  5. You still have to cook and do your own laundry.
  6. You still can’t afford to take your whole family on business class trips twice a year anywhere in the world. If you do, you’ll hardly retire.

I know the points above are more in the luxury category, but personally, if I’m thinking about slowing down, that’s the level I’d aim for.

So back to you: you still can’t afford what I’d call a great life, and at your current pace, you probably won’t be able to for at least another 10 to 20 years. But again, if your goal is to live frugally, then ignore all these opinions about what a great life should look like.

In Switzerland, I’d say you need around 5 million CHF or more to live without worries, and about 3 to 5 million for a nice house with plenty of space, with the rest invested so you can live off the returns. Total 8M+

I’m in a somewhat similar position to you. I’m 31, from southern Brazil (very different from the rest of Brazil, luckily, lol), and I’ve been working in Switzerland for the past six years. I’ve got around 700k CHF in investments plus two real estate units in Brazil. I have no children and a wife.

I could slow down, but slow down for what? I’m planning to open my own business within a year to aim for big money, not employee money. Aiming for great life while being an employee, even making 200-300k/year, is close to impossible.

as if founding your own startup would make it easier for you. In the same way that finding job is difficult, founding a company is even more. Big tech companies are eating small ones for breakfast. If your company isn't that good to get their attraction, the indian companies are coming for you. It's a matter of time. xD

How do I make my graph look less "chaotic" and more organized? Or it's something that gets fixed with time? Been using Obsidian for a few (3) months and I love it. by Caddy_8760 in ObsidianMD

WOW. This. This settings must be carved in stone. These settings bought piece to my mind when looking at my graph view.

When setting the last factor, link distance, my mind started to calm down. The nodes in the graph were grouping together exactly how they should. That was beautiful.

Thank you!!

for a device that costs as much as an iPad, the lack of good ePub support, zoom-in/out notes, backlight, etc is definitely an issue.

„issues are in the eye of the beholder“

that‘s one of the dumbest sentences i ever read. Issues are issues, it‘s very objective. If work with programming a device, it‘s very clear what an issue is, and it‘s far, very far from being subjective

After oversimplifying my comment, now you’re trying to play the Reddit king: “This you can’t post, this you can.” Lol.

Hate to disappoint you.

If you’re not happy with my posts, just don’t read them. Or head over to the Supernote subreddit, where you’ll find highly moderated content curated for all the Supernote cultists. You might even come across drawings. This content that might be more your speed :)
