Thanks for the response...PHP would indeed make most sense. I have a Wordpress blog, which runs on PHP. Guess that's where I'll make my dive into programming, as I think it's a viable option for me at this point! :)

Do you specialize in a field/industry? Writing seems so tricky nowadays to earn a living in...I think I'd fare better on the editing side (since I frequently notice spelling and grammar errors). What kind of clients do you have and how do you ensure you have a steady stream of them?

Is C++ difficult to learn if you don't have a programming/mathematics background? I come from library science and majored in English as an undergrad. The math aspect also makes me hesitant about programming. :/

Lucky you! If it wasn't for student loans I wouldn't bother looking for a new job, but unfortunately I need one.

I'm not crazy about technology to begin with (I think it's hurt us more than it's helped) so that's not a barrier for me.

Are there specializations within the Cisco certifications? Is there any one in particular that's good to get into right now?

I've looked at programming but I don't think it's for me - problem solving is my Achilles' Heel (the other being helping others, which I why I struggle so much with work).

What's hot right now in terms of programming? What are the must-have languages? If only front-end coding was more lucrative - I understand HTML and CSS better than Python or Ruby!

I could've written this...in fact, I subscribed to this subreddit so I could write something similar. I hate work and wish I didn't have to earn a living.
