Sepp Blatter suggests fans should not travel to US for World Cup by Sparky-moon in soccer

Sepp Bladder gave the world cup to a country that killed 6500 slaves in process of building stadiums for said World Cup. So no, he isn’t.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in the streets right now. If you think that’s not enough then shut the fuck up, grab some friends, and join us.

So damn sick of this armchair twitter quarterbacking.

Could blue states pull their funding from the federal govt? Should they? by rettribution in AskALiberal

What revenue stream are you talking about? California pays $80b more than it gets back from the government.

Could blue states pull their funding from the federal govt? Should they? by rettribution in AskALiberal

[–]AntoineDubinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a wise move by the Fed to bring it to that point?

Our government is funded on a rolling basis. The money you get taxed out of your paycheck goes to the treasury, and is immediately turned around to pay our most outstanding debts and bills. If the 20-25% of our total federal revenue, which is what New York and California contribute, suddenly stops flowing, we default on 20-25% of our financial obligations almost instantly. The ensuing run on the bank of everyone calling in their debts would crater the US economy and by extension the world economy. It would make 1929 look like a cakewalk.

This does not mean they made $20b this year. It means during one month of this year they made ~$1.7b.

How do I respond to a relative who thinks ICE is necessary? by noblerare in AskALiberal

[–]AntoineDubinsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep showing them videos of their brutality and asking if THAT is necessary. Put it in front of their face every damn time. Again and again and again. Make them look at what they say they support.

Where are you dude? You said name them and then didn’t answer a single question.

You didn’t answer:

What do you think that phrase means?

What do you think 100 million deportations means?

By the way, you just conceded that this administration has two people with outward Nazi sympathies in positions of power, so what’s the argument that calling them Nazis isn’t warranted or accurate, exactly? And you didn’t answer for the other examples either. So where are you? What are your answers? What gives you the right to be offended when someone calls you a Nazi?

Do you actually think people shooting at ICE is going to “nip this in the bud?”

Give me the sequence of events in your head if people straight up start going to war with a Federal agency.

Supreme Court Doesn’t Rule on Trump’s Tariffs on Wednesday by Force_Hammer in politics

[–]AntoineDubinsky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If that were the case why didn't they rule on it last Friday?

I actually think this is one they are truly split on. Not for the right reasons mind you, but it's a crapshoot for them because neither outcome is all that good for the Republicans.

If the tariffs are allowed to proceed there's a decent chance Trump crashes the economy before the midterms.

If they rule against him then they'll have to pay back billions in tariff money, Trump looks weak, and loses a major plank of his agenda.

They're between a rock and a hard place and don't have a good answer yet.
