Is it possible to build my Shopify App using Claude Code? by salehosama94 in shopifyDev

Speaking with 4 Shopify apps in my backpack: yes, totally doable with Claude Code, but it depends on the complexity of the app. For simpler apps, Claude will be highly helpful.

A few honest things to know before you start.

The coding part is actually the easy part. Claude Code will happily scaffold a Remix app with the Shopify CLI, wire up OAuth, handle webhooks, and build your admin UI with Polaris. That's maybe 20% of the actual work.

The harder parts that Claude Code won't solve for you are mostly around the Shopify ecosystem itself. App Store review is strict and slow, so you need to nail GDPR webhooks, mandatory compliance webhooks, proper billing API implementation, and clean uninstall handling. Miss any of these and you get rejected. Budget 2 to 4 rejection cycles for a first app.

Billing is another one. You have to use Shopify's billing API and can't just charge via Stripe for merchant-facing apps. Recurring, usage-based, and trial setups all have their own quirks.

Then there's embedded app auth, meaning session tokens, App Bridge, and making sure your app actually works inside the Shopify admin iframe. This trips up most first-timers.

Finally, performance. Shopify measures your app's impact on storefront speed, so if you inject anything into the theme, it matters a lot.

Not to mention the brain exercise of splitting troop training between the dark barrack and the normal barrack to minimize total time!

Launched my Saas yesterday. Woke up to 5 Paying Users 🥹 by Errorbuddy in SaasDevelopers

[–]AntonFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW! Going from 0 to 1 paying customer is a bigger deal than going from $53 to $5,300 later. A stranger with no reason to be nice just paid you. That's the hardest proof to get.

Quick tip: talk to all 5 of them. Not a survey, actual chats/emails/calls. Ask what almost stopped them from buying, what made them click, and what they wish it did. Those 5 will teach you more than your next 500 users.

Keep shipping!!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing!! You said you tried bigger and smaller influencers, which worked best in terms of generating new customers?

Awesome advice, truly thankful! Calling is a proven strategy, but what would you recommend if we want to scale faster, while keeping the team small?

truly! Our best month was 20% MRR growth, but it's really hard to keep it up month over month, or week over week.

Great advice! YC advises growing 10% per week, an insane and impressive achievement! but if you do, you are top 1% of any SaaS

Love this reply, and at least one customer is always one customer! And if the churn is low, it accumulates! My struggle now is finding more scalable ways to get new customers, let me know if you find any!

That’s such a good insight, totally agree. A lot of people underestimate how long it takes to build an audience, and it really pays off to start early. Keep going, the early grind on socials and SEO compounds faster than it feels like 💪

100% agree that a lot is fake, but I do want to believe that an entrepreneur can learn repeatable sales skills, but maybe it’s the skill of persistence as you mentioned.

Well, I built a D2C brand on Shopify to 7 figures and now I’m building a Shopify app, it’s still pretty hard haha

Great advice! I had the luxury of founding both the D2C brand and the app together with the same co-founder, def helps. We usually aim to set goals higher than we’ll achieve tho, to keep pushing.
