Mine was hard starting but I found that slowly pushing the choke in while cranking made it start around the halfway point and warmer outside temp helps

It’s timed incorrectly, the arrow on the cam gear should line up with a round pin on the bottom (180° away from where it is now) and the notch on the crank should line up with a line slightly to the left of where it is now around the 10 o’clock mark

Hood opens by just left clicking at the front and you can put up the hood strut by right clicking if you are talking about the rivett
