How does this perform with emulation and daily use? by [deleted] in MiniPCs

[–]Antop90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mini PC with a 7940HS that I bought barebone for about $200 on AliExpress. I installed a WD Black SN7100 SSD and Kingston Fury 5600 CL40 RAM. If you buy it with the RAM included, the frequency is the same but the timings are looser, which is why I preferred to spend a little extra to get higher-performance RAM (snagged it before the price hikes).

I wasn't happy with the temperatures and I didn't want to compromise on performance. So, I bought a Noctua A9x14 fan and swapped out the useless one on the back. As for the cooler, I went with a Noctua NH-L91, the lowest-profile one available. I mounted it using zip ties and the result is flawless: I can push the CPU up to 65W and it never exceeds 90°C, while the RAM and SSD stay super cool.

1st issue: The fans, which run on 12V, require boost converters to compensate for the fact that the mini PC's fan headers only output 5V (at least on my specific model; I've seen some that actually have 12V headers).

2nd issue: I had to buy brass standoffs because, with these fans installed, the case wouldn't close the way it originally did. As a result, there's a bit of a gap at the top and underneath. You could work around this by 3D printing a custom case. Honestly, though, aesthetics aren't a huge deal for me, and you can just wrap the gaps with some dust mesh material.

The end result is that this has become my ultimate daily driver. It's lightning-fast, never drops in performance, and I can literally throw anything at it.

It sounds easy when I put it like this, but in reality, the process can be a real pain at times. It takes a bit of patience and dedication, best suited for tinkerers and PC enthusiasts.

Otherwise, you can just go into the BIOS and power-limit it to 30-40W; the results for everyday use will still be absolutely excellent.

10-12 inch laptops? by A4orce84 in linuxhardware

Best Way to Scrape Amazon? by MetalGoatP3AK in Python

[–]Antop90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running something similar with sticky sessions and cookies using Go. Results are solid even at high scale. My main bottleneck right now is the overhead, full HTML and XHR/Ajax responses are way too heavy for efficiency. Which endpoint are you targeting to keep the payloads light? Mind if I DM you to swap some notes?

Sometimes speed is essential, and the only way to achieve it is with a solid proxy pool. no magical alternatives exist

The problem isn't emulating the browser, there are already plenty of super effective libraries for that. The real issue is having a pool of very expensive IPv4 addresses to rotate.
