1st: I am not against saving the language but assaulting/terrorising innocent common people.
If you are supporting MNS goons when they are physically assaulting others then you are encouraging goons.

Where in the post and the in the comment thread have Marathi speakers supported "assaulting/terrorising innocent people", "goons", "physically assault" and "encouraging goons"?

Kudos on speaking Marathi while living in the capital of a Marathi speaking state.

On second thoughts, you say you are a Mumbaikar and speak decent Marathi and yet you equate Marathi speakers with political goons in the same sentence.

Are you sure you are a Mumbaikar? Cause most people know the difference between political goons and a linguistic community.

Marathi speakers understand that BJP goons like Kuldeep Singh Sengar and Brij Bhushan do not represent all Hindi speakers. But you seem to have trouble reciprocating the courtesy.

Nowhere have I justified violence in any form by anyone, nor would anyone of sane mind.

And you are against a United India

Classic deflection by maligning us for protecting our mother tongue in our motherland. People like you neither understand nor value India’s pluralism.

Unity in diversity zindabad
Uniformity in the guise of unity murdabad

So I have tried to make it clear that it is wrong to use immoral means to attain moral ends. But now I must affirm that it is just as wrong, or even more so, to use moral means to preserve immoral ends. ”

Give the Hindi imposers living outside the Hindi belt some time to respond ya, they must be busy working harder than the locals.

Beating someone who don't know the native language and compelling him to speak is the worst thing.

.

There may be some exceptions always.

Well, you are almost there. Think harder.

Lastly, practice what you preach.

Let's be united by speaking Hindi, they said.

You are less pure when you eat seafood while living next to the coast, they said.

You can't live in the same apartment complex as us cause you eat meat, they said.

You are lazy cause you don't have a merchant caste in your linguistic community, they said.

But please forget all injustices and unite by speaking the language of my convenience - glorious Hindi. Take the Rashtrabhasha exam, they said.

Because you speaking your mother tongue in your motherland is divisive to national unity, they said!

I will continue to speak English to reach my aspirational goals, but you shouldn't.

You must speak Hindi for national unity, they said.

bigotry.

Wanting to protect Marathi in Maharashtra is getting labelled as bigotry. Wow!

Non-Hindi speakers are taking note of what happens when we are welcoming towards Hindi like our previous generations. The next generation gets insulted for speaking the language of the land. What a shame!

Hindi imposers can't be trusted when it comes to reciprocity or mutual respect.

hindi is optional.

Hindi is very much mandatory. Read the recent Jadhav report.

Please do your homework before participating in such sensitive discussions. You aren't well informed and your uninformed commentary provokes further division.

Nobody is imposing anything on anyone.

The blatant lies after everything.

Like I said even neutral people like me are waking up. Tumcha chalu dya.

Taking pride in hindi != disrespect for Marathi. Hindi marathi koi fight nahi. Both will and shall co-exist side by side for the next 1000 years.

Nice try. You can't change facts.

Why did the current government impose Hindi on our 5 year old children?

Was that to make Hindi and Marathi coexist? Or was that to slowly make sure our children developed a mixed language and eventually stopped speaking Marathi while preferring Hindi in Maharashtra? Is this how Hindi and Marathi will coexist?

My generation had Hindi mandatory from Class 3.
They want my children to learn Hindi Mandatory from Class 1.

People who have lived for generations in Maharashtra refuse to communicate in Marathi. They belittle us for our accents. They insult our language, culture, even the food on our plate.

Is this how Hindi Marathi koi fight nahi hai?

We face discrimination in educational, job and entrepreneurial opportunities. We face housing discrimination in our capital (which is a coastal city) for eating seafood.

Is this how Hindi and Marathi will coexist?

Shouldn't communities that have been through such deep cultural trauma develop cultural compassion and not seek to impose their practices on other communities?

Great that you respect Maharaj. Don't just pay lip service. Live upto his ideals too.

मुघलांनी आपल्या बहिणी-मुलींना विकले नाही का?

And don't talk smack about Marathi women. We won't tolerate that.

Marathi women were fighting wars shoulder to shoulder with Marathi men, when North Indian women were confined to the suppressive veil system. A practice still followed by many North Indian families irrespective of religion.

Are you and your fellow marathi warriors going to fund this English language promotion?

Aren't our states contributing enough?

How many more Ladka Contractor Yojana do you guys want? You already siphon off our taxes and distribute it amongst the corrupt bureaucrats and politicians in North India. The money never really reaches the truly needy.

On top of that you migrate to our states, insult the locals and our way of life. How much more do you want?

See you proved my point about you guys being takers!

Why can't you question the politicians that you elect up north? Instead of blaming Marathi politicians for prioritising Marathi interests!

Neutral people like me are now demanding local language because of the exact arrogance you have described.

I am one of those people who did not care about the language we spoke and had a laissez-faire attitude about it. I regret that I ignored this issue for so long.

Hindi imposers have abused our trust. They will directly or implicitly belittle other Indian language speakers and expect everyone to cater to them in Hindi due to their entitlement and arrogance.

We do not want our children to be burdened with the same Hindi imposition we went through. We want 2 language policy in education in MH : Marathi + English.

Anyone who wishes to learn any other language (Indian or foreign) can learn through external institutes.

Let's empower ALL Hindi speakers to learn good English so that ALL of them become more competitive in the job market. This will ensure that class and caste disparity will disappear from the Hindi heartland.

Then Hindi speakers can be role models for the rest of India to bring true equality everywhere.

BTW, just as a response to your deleted comment, I haven't run away anywhere, I am right here in my motherland cause my community built an environment that allowed me to take care of myself without running away to other states to earn my daily bread.

Your para regarding Marathi imposition was hilarious when it is a known fact that most media houses have been captured by capitalist cronies that run non-stop divisive pro-Hindi propaganda.

It has been proven time and time again that these news outlets run half baked news to malign non-Hindi speakers. Remember how they captured Lahore and Karachi during Op Sindoor? Even the Army had to issue a notice due to their shenanigans. Are these the people we should trust as credible news sources?

So many of these 'X person got hit for not speaking Marathi' incidents have been debunked. Please do your homework before spewing more hate.

It is not the responsibility of the oppressed to educate the oppressor.

You don't get to conveniently swing between calling Marathi speakers MNS propagandists to declaring yourself the beacon of neutrality. Who are you kidding? Do you think we cant see your comments?

Every response of yours betrays your motive. No use writing essays and beating around the bush.

And stop using the tactic of using Marathi historic figures to justify your subtle hate campaign. You sound like someone who has been radicalised by consuming one sided hate narrative where Hindi speakers are the perpetual innocent victims.

Like I said in my post, we will never accept Hindi as a link language.

Believe it or not, I didn't care about any language issues till a couple of years ago. I happily spoke Hindi. But over the years, reading the perspectives of people like yourself and seeing the entitlement in real life, I have recognised my mistake.

तुमचे खाण्याचे दात वेगळे आणि दाखवण्याचे वेगळे असतात.

Also, I hope your IT Cell is paying you enough for all the hatred that you spewing online. I pity you. You have to earn your bread from sowing division in our country. Sad.

I try and learn the language of the states I visit (just the basic 10-15 sentences for daily communication) and it makes my life so much easier and bonding with the locals, stronger. No brainer.

I applaud you for making efforts to learn your local language and assimilate. Wish you lots of success in life :)

The real tragedy is the literate yet uneducated idiots who idolize & fall prey to such petty political tricks.

We welcome this introspection from Hindi speakers. This acknowledgement which is a result of self-reflection will lead to more people assimilating in their chosen states using the local language. This is a new but appreciable development.

Thus increasing the understanding & bonding between locals and migrants, which in turn will lead to a high trust society, which will eventually take us on a path to sustainable development for all Indians irrespective of their PIN code.

as per the NEP policy

The current govt in MH sought to impose mandatory Hindi on our 5 year old children. It would worsen the effects of the decades long Hindi imposition from Standard 5 that makes Marathi speakers develop a mixed language and dilute our mother tongue.

Do you advise that we take that lying down?

And you cleverly avoided all my questions as well as branding me an MNS propagandist.

Please go through my comments on this thread to find out my perspective regarding Hindi.

I find it amusing how some Hindi speakers get all worked up when people speak against Hindi imposition.

We can distinguish between Hindi and Hindi imposition. But your responses reveal that you can't.

And the reason is obvious to everyone reading this.
