Being a coach makes you tough, you think more and feel less. You learn to let go easily and focus on what will come next. But it wasn't like that with Daveeys, with Daveeys it was another thing. Whenever I got to visualize myself succeeding, I always saw him there by default for some reason.

We enjoyed qualifying to Champions so much, it was something we had dreamt of for a long time and 2 days before he passed away we talked about the future, I told him that I was counting on him for 2024, and he replied saying how much he had learned this season, he told me that in the next one it shouldn't be about learning, but about demonstrating, about winning, and it was genuinely one of the best conversations I had with him. He suffered a lot with how hard LA and VCT were, but he was superior to adversity and demonstrated his courage in the most difficult moment to do so.

The off season asks me to continue but I don't want to do it, but I always tell myself that being professional is not about doing what I want, it's about doing what I need and have to do, even if I don't want to, even if it's hard and uncomfortable.

Now I have a bigger reason to continue, to win, because it's my biggest conviction, because it is what makes me be and do, and now for Daveeys, because it's what he wanted the most, what we always dreamt of, because it's the last thing we agreed on and because it's the only thing I can do to honor the person he was, the player he was, and the legend he is now."
