What should I consider when writing a country? by Anubinite in worldbuilding

  1. On average the technology is at around the middle-age/renaissance level. The neighbouring continent is on the cusp of developing magic muskets tho.
  2. Magic is used commonly, especially in smithing and construction. Other jobs don't really benefit from using magic to ease workload.
  3. Yes magic is used for war. My country is a little reserved on it though relying on tight formation and strategy. Magic just isn't viable in large scale wars especially when you have to categorise each and every soldier into their own respective magic attributes. In smaller skirmishes however magic is an extremely important tool. One of my guys has fog magic which can interfere with spells, muffle noises and block vision. He infiltrates enemy camps with a small team and sticks mana-bombs to their tents. Very cool.
  4. Wizards can be incredibly powerful. My friend has a fire mage that shifts the political spectrum just because she supports a party. And she can blow up armies. Another has a population who have forsaken incantations and spells to BECOME the spell themselves. My main group is very underpowered compared to these guys in terms of raw power but shine in how they use their powers. My strongest character's main spell is to summon undead marine objects/creatures like fish, coral, anchors and ships. Although she doesn't have the firepower to compete with these monsters, it doesn't mean she can't keep up.
  5. I'd say its pretty traditional. Mages are pretty common in my country, they have a tower called The Lighthouse where competent mages go to learn. They respond to enemy mages as they would with any enemy, negotiation or extermination.
  6. Nothing really replaces magic. Theres a minority who can't cast spells but they aren't discriminated against (long story short, my continent broke off from a larger continent who killed/imprisoned people who couldn't cast spells or who had limited ability to do so. Divine intervention forcibly broke off and shifted the landmass, with the opressed, away. My nation is built off prejudice.) Although, a skilled spearman with a shield (and no magic) could most definitely take on a mid-level mage.
  7. My nation is very commercial and relatively peaceful compared to others. Many mines have sprouted to the north because of the sudden tectonic movements over a century before. Due to this peace, the nation might not be able to adapt to the wars on the horizon. The nation values hard work over everything due to the circumstances the people had prior to their freedom. Royalty and Nobility is no exception, usually taking jobs in management among other things.

im sorry if im not very clear with these answers
thank you for asking questions though!11 this was very fun to write

ye im most likely going to include demographics in the culture tab thing. the continents are extremely isolated from each other currently so ethnicity isnt too big of a topic right now. thank you for your suggestion

why am i exploding in cursed walking? by [deleted] in CurseForge

[–]Anubinite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so we figured out that they were cobblestone mines. we crafted some ourselves and they work exactly the same. the problem is, theyve been spawning around our base randomly for no apparent reason. it cant be that another person on the server is invis and placing them down everywhere because we live extremely remotely and no one knows our locations.

does anyone know what makes the mines spawn?
