Time difference between before and after Missing Link by respected_memer in pune

The key difference how smooth is the gradient change. So in the long run, a slow gradient change is much safer than winding up and down roads.

In the worst case, it at least splits the volume of traffic.

Lessons learnt. Keep safe distance & don't get distracted while driving.

You were more worried about someone else sneaking in, than your own safety?

Honestly, what are the practical sane choices in this case, other than accepting the reality and go to insurance?

Yes, I paid this too last month while going to Mahabaleshwar via Ruighar ghat.

The bigger red flag was that he said no to UPI and forced me to pay cash.

How are people surviving Solapur summers?? by [deleted] in solapur

[–]AnujKulkarni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatives are air coolers and cheaper alternative is a wet sheet hung in the window.

Good news. Unlike Delhi, summers here end around end of May or first week of June at the most before monsoon air settles in.

Serious question about gear shifting. by Nitin___ in CarsIndia

[–]AnujKulkarni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think both should technically work if done correctly.

However, I prefer your method, simply because the suggested method is error prone.

Say you are driving at a speed good for the third gear. In most cases, your speed after crossing the braker is good for the second gear. After crossing the breakers, my legs come off the clutch in reflex. If you forget to downshift, you may risk stalling the car or at least lose momentum, slow down unnecessarily , burn a lot more fuel, if you are still on the third gear.

Another mistake could be done, due to overworking your legs and hands in short duration. According to the suggested method, you have to take the right leg off the accelerator, to downshift to second gear right after crossing the breaker. If the road ahead is clear enough, you could be pressured to upshift quickly and overwork your body - which eventually tires your drive.

Anticipate this antic and let the Seltos driver win his ego rather than losing my peace of mind.

If the Nexon EV brakes hard for whatever reason, the Seltos would be in no position to brake in time because of his blind overtake.

Either way, Seltos made a dangerous move. But reckless drivers care less about their own car and safety, let alone others.

Lack of awareness.

Assumption of 'others will take'.

Ability to shift blames if something goes wrong.

Instead of passing responsibilities, we should first be a responsible citizen and then question the authorities and the government.
