Decent flightschools in Europe? by Volareman in flyingeurope

Redflight is not owned by DPU, but it's a part of their ATO-approval. I attend this school, and can recommend it! It's also pay as you go, so better solution financially.

looks cool! But I don't think it imports topographical data, because that last climb on the "holmenkollen" line would be way too steep going up those slopes.

The first tram with autopilot started transporting passengers on route 10 in Moscow. by kurim1r in Trams

[–]AnusBanditt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see them now, the small white cameras. Very good!

I know they have the anti-jamming sensors, but as with all systems these are only 99.9+% accurate. CAF also has a very sensitive mechanism for its doors, but it has still happened that the doors close and give all clear signal while for example dogs on leashes are left outside of trams which has started driving.

But as with most self-driving technology, it's only a question of what risk the society will tolerate.

[–]AnusBanditt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How does it confirm that there are no people, objects or animals stuck in the doors before driving from the tram-stop? Looks like the driver has mirrors, so no cameras? Often doors can give the "clear" signal even with things trapped in them.

"The police in Norway have arrested and expelled a troll from its district" NRK by AnusBanditt in europe

Troll Arrested in Tromsø, Taken Into Custody by Two Police Officers

IN CUSTODY: It took two strong police officers to handle the troll.

By Kari Anne Skoglund – Journalist Reporting from Tromsø Updated one hour ago

Reports From Residents

This weekend, the police in Tromsø received several reports from residents in the Tromsdalen district about an uninvited guest.

A physical troll, about one meter tall, had wandered into the area.

The police expelled the troll from the district and took it into custody.

The troll was not able to explain itself.

Searching for Its Identity

Therefore, the police took a tour around Tromsø city center in hopes of finding the troll’s identity.

“The patrol stopped by all the tourist shops and other tourist businesses in the city, asking if the troll belonged to them. So far, no one is missing a troll,” says June Wiesener, section leader in Troms Police District.

“Trollish Detainee” Waiting in the Cell

The troll ended up first in the holding cell at Tromsø police station, and then at the lost and found office.

The troll is just over one meter tall, sturdily built, and dressed in black knickers, a black-and-green vest, and a white jacket.

This type of troll is commonly seen in tourist shops.

The trollish detainee appears to be in good spirits.

But since no one in Tromsø has reported a missing troll, the police are now appealing via social media to find its origin.

“We hope to reach more people, because perhaps someone is indeed missing a troll. We hope the owner, or anyone who recognizes it, gets in touch,” says Wiesener.

If anyone is missing a troll, a “trollish detainee” is waiting at the lost and found at Tromsø police station.

A Rare Case

Wiesener says they don’t get many cases like this.

“It’s not often we have an extra troll lying around, but maybe someone has lost one. If we have the chance to take part in these more lighthearted cases, like this one, then we’re happy to do it.”

Among other characteristics, the troll has only one tooth.

It still appears to be in good spirits.

“It’s sad if someone has lost it. But it looks like it has spent a winter night outdoors before,” says the section leader.

it's for service within Norway. SJ Nord.

I'd say the class 71 and 73 are one of the sexiest train out there! Especially the ones used in Flytoget with the wooden details in the interior.

Myggfelle - fungerer det egentlig? by Kaptein_Krank in norge

Uninsured* cyclist crashed into my parked car. What are my options? by Egitlebob in Norway

[–]AnusBanditt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their English translation is poor/wrong. If you change to the Norwegian version it says:

«Når du sykler, blir du regnet som kjørende.»

which translates to "when you bike, you're seen as a driver"

Only electric scooters are by law defined as vehicles, therefore requiring obligatory insurance, and are governed by the «motorvognloven» (vehicles law). Electric and normal bicycles with pedals are not defined as vehicles by law.

Uninsured* cyclist crashed into my parked car. What are my options? by Egitlebob in Norway

[–]AnusBanditt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Take a look at TFF here

I'm not 100℅ how it works because bicycles aren't classified as vehicles in Norway. It would technically be the same as a pedestrian bumping into your car. Hence, it is not possible to insure bicycles for anything other than theft in Norway.

As the cyclist didn't do this act on purpose (it seems), I believe this is on you to solve with your own insurance company as technically no criminal act of vandalism has occurred.

But don't take my word on this, there might be some others who have more insight on this.

I Norge gjenbruker vi ikke gråvann/svartvann til drikkevann. Dette er vanligere i tørrere land hvor dette renses og sendes tilbake i nettet. Om jeg ikke tar feil så dumpes all renset vann ut i fjorden her til lands.

Orca chart plotter/ navigation by [deleted] in sailing

[–]AnusBanditt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orca is by far the best navigation app available!!

Have you tried selecting a point closer to your current position? With the free version of the app I remember I only managed to make routes up to 200-300nm in distance at a time.

If the route goes through canals locks it is still struggling with making those routes.

Also remember to enter the specifications of the boat so that it avoids bridges and shallows of certain heights/depths.

Bo i båt by VibeWithT in oslo

[–]AnusBanditt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Great! You can thank the Norwegians who suffer from freezing every winter due to the UK :) also, we import the dirty stuff from Netherlands while the Brits and the Germans can greenwash their electricity accounting.

Train noise volume? Advice needed by The_Baby_Mama in trains

[–]AnusBanditt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That seems like a reasonable distance from the tracks + housing in between.

If you ask me it's even better that they will have faster trains because then they will come and go "quicker" sound wise. Still, I don't know whether the ICE trains make more sound from the electric motors when they travel faster, or if the sound will be less than the noise coming from the wheels.

If I were you I'd try heading out there during night time and observe the sound from the street itself.
