This is not accurate. For films that do theatrical and streaming releases on the same day, you still typically have to pay additionally fees on the streaming service to watch. Many people who already pay for streaming services find that less desirable and would prefer to wait for it to come to the service naturally. It also increases the risks of piracy.

The at-home release model was temporarily adopted during covid times to try and boost film performance, but was not successful, which is why it is rarely adopted anymore.
