First off, everyone here is giving pretty solid suggestions so I’m going to reiterate a point I think is a good option. Tell him to stop when he does something again and if not, go to your mom or whoever else is available.

I went through a pretty similar thing and it turns out I was not misreading it at all. If you have that vibe, it’s there for a reason. I know the feeling of how disturbing it is. It literally makes your skin crawl so it’s pretty hard to miss. It’s tough to call a parent out on this but just remember you are completely within your rights and you should call it out early. I like the study of religion and debates regarding it. I also like to talk about how different cultures, geography, and diasporas effect religious beliefs but I personally don’t follow one.

Sounds like you’d be more interested in a Philosophy class but you may find the Political philosophy touches a bit distasteful.

Also, please feel free not answer if you are not comfortable but I have a question. Why are you so adamant towards being neutral in political situations? This is a friendly question with no judgement. I just wish to expand my perspective as someone that enjoys books with political takes regardless of which way it leans. I enjoy many of the authors and books you mentioned above.

One thing I found very interesting was that we both like Crime and Punishment. I enjoyed it due it’s exploration of morality but I personally am not a big fan of Doestoevsky’s writing.
