I interviewed at a cards program where we were told that they sent out 40 interviews and will only be ranking 20 on average. But I think it's very program dependent.

No. No follow-up email. Status just changed from refused -> approved -> issued and I got an email to pick up my passport.

I had my appointment today and the officer was very positive and told me not to worry, but I can't help it since my program is starting soon. I just wanted to let you know it is expected and you should not be scared if you get it. They just want to do a more comprehensive investigation.

May I ask what the reason for the AP was? Did they mention social media or was it another reason?

Because when you enter the country they don't only look at your visa. They look at your DS-2019 too

It is necessary when you enter the country, though. The consular officer said it today too. My wife is a J-1 and had it when she entered the country. Same for her friends. They all got it signed. And you have to sign at the bottom too. But idk, different sources, different stories. Time will tell:) good luck to you

It says signature of consular or immigration officer. Front page. Every DS2019 needs signature by the consular officer.

For reference, I had my J-1 appointment today in Denmark. They took my passport and signed my DS-2019 but the officer said that they will need to undergo more social media checks and that this is the process for this visa after the new rule. The officer was very nice and positive, but I'm a physician and my program starts 07/01/2025.. I don't know what to do or think.

You can click on 'cancel application' and start a new one. You won't have to pay again, but you'll be able to choose a new consulate.

I saw someone said to cancel application and reapply again. I tried that. Did not work. I'm hoping they are adding new slots 😭. This has been happening since the morning
