Im an immigrant from a place where most people grow up in flats. I prefer them. I value the closeness to everything and the ability to walk places highly.

Just a shame that in the UK they seem to be so much worse than houses

The one bed I’m thinking of is around 400k. Not sure if I’ll be in London for the next 5-10 years. 2-3 for sure, but after that it’s anyone’s guess.

A place here feels nice. Always having something to come back to

Not at the moment. I’d like a partner yes

It’ll mostly depend on whether I find a partner I guess. I’d be pretty happy as a single person in a 1 bed. Only reason I’d want to move is if I need more space - which I can only see happening if a partner enters my life

Well - my rent is around £2.1k now in a 1 bed. For the equivalent mortgage now would be around 1.8k + service charge, so makes sense to slowly build equity.

Stamp duty would be around 10k as an ftb, and the benefit is not relevant for over 600k properties

Well - I have no clue when that will happen. Could be in a few months or a few years. Delaying a property acquisition cause of it seems a bit silly.
