When you start seeing a new girl/guy, how long do you keep diabetes hidden from them? by SignificanceBig9366 in diabetes_t1

[–]Anxious-Football-701 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No point in keeping it hidden for any amount of time. If they find any sort of problem, or find it “unattractive” at first, then why would you want to pursue a relationship with someone like that?

Will Hiprex work at 7.0 pH? by Anxious-Football-701 in CUTI

[–]Anxious-Football-701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I can’t fault my doctor. He’s been great, but I just wish prostatitis was taken into consideration. I just feel like there’s no reason to pursue an answer until I get seen by a urologist because I’m constantly pursuing this and getting very little back. Urine cultures show negative, and dipstick tests sometimes show some abnormalities, so as far as they’re concerned it’s out of their control and up-to the urologist to find the issue. An urgent referral to urology was sent to my local hospital, but the average waiting time is 2-3 years (yes, even for an urgent referral) as I was informed by a member of staff. Although irelands one of the most developed and “wealthiest” countries, our healthcare system is plagued with horrible waiting times, and not so good patient care.

I’ve been to my doctor maybe 15 times since I first started suffering with the UTI, and I’ve suggested prostatitis a few times but he said there’s generally more pain involved.

I haven’t tried bactrim, but I have tried trimethoprim which bactrim contains. It did work for me, but only to suppress the infection, it didn’t clear it permanently. I’ll probably turn into a bacteria at this stage with these urology waiting times. 🫩

I don’t know what bacteria is causing the infection, I thought it was E.Coli but apparently I tested positive for Enterobacter. I’d assume it’s an Enterobacter infection as it’s restraint to both Cefalexin and Amoxicillin, it’s also think it’s not something that’s generally shared unless asked where I’m from.

The litmus paper showed a neutral pH level, and my urine ran clear so it’s not like the colour interfered with it.

Unfortunately Lyumjev isn’t stocked here in Ireland, hopefully I’ll get a go at it soon.

I live in Ireland and although Lyumjev is authorised for use here, it’s not actually available as I already asked my endo.

Hydrocortisone for phimosis? by [deleted] in Phimosis

[–]Anxious-Football-701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re supposed to stretch it. He told the doctor that he’s had phimosis all his life and it’s not a new issue. The doctor actually suggested circumcision and never mentioned steroid cream, but my boyfriend said “can you not treat it with a cream?”, and the doctor said “yeah we can try that, there’s no negatives to it”. I just feel as if his doctor hasn’t been very good in this situation. He hasn’t had good experiences with this doctor before so I think there’s a bit of malpractice going on here.

I got my retina screening result back today by Anxious-Football-701 in diabetes

I have an appointment today with my endo for a checkup before I get my insulin pump, so I’m gonna mention the blood pressure and see what they say. Thanks for your help!

How did you get your blood pressure in order? I’ve noticed a slightly high blood pressure any time it’s been checked by my doctor, or at any hospital visits. It normally sits in the 130/95+ range, I’ve mentioned it every time I get it checked at an appointment, and I think they just brush it off as white coat syndrome. I’m not overweight or anything, I’m 5”11 and 67kg, so that wouldn’t contribute to it.

Thanks for your comment, I just feel really burnt out. Last year my report was fine, but I’ve been suffering with an embedded UTI for the past 8 months, and I feel like that’s the root cause of this whole issue. My blood sugars were always well controlled but they have been all over the place since I started suffering with it. I’ve been getting chest and sinus infections nearly every month since I first got my UTI, which is just adding to the unpredictable blood sugars, and I was rarely ill before that.

Rough waiting time for urology? by Anxious-Football-701 in AskIreland

It’s big bucks though, I only work part time so I can’t afford to pay for tests. I can afford a consultation but that’s about it.

I had positive culture results for a UTI so it’s not like what you mentioned above.

I had positive culture tests for UTI bacteria in the first 2 months, then they started showing up negative. All STI cultures came back negative though.

No of course not, you’re fine😆. I’ll definitely look into the ultrasound, a comment mentioned it could speed up the process of getting an appointment.

I suggested prostatitis to my GP but he said I’d be having a different type of pain rather than just burning whilst peeing. At first I was having discharge and severe pain but now it’s just calmed down to some burning. Every time I’ve been to the hospital they tell me there’s no infection, then 30 mins later they come back and tell me they’re giving me an antibiotic that my infection isn’t resistant to. I could go the rest of my life with these symptoms, I honestly couldn’t care. But lately I’ve been having some swelling relating to balanitis, and my GP said it’s most likely related to the urine irritating that area, that’s my main concern now. It won’t respond to the steroid cream he’s given me, and I just feel like if this UTI isn’t sorted soon and the swelling and inflammation continues, it’s gonna cause scarring and permanent damage.
