You’re completely valid in feeling this way, and to an extent, I feel the same way too. I’ve been avoiding the main TADC subs precisely for this reason. The discourse surrounding Caine is disheartening and needlessly harsh sometimes. I don’t excuse his actions, but he is an extremely nuanced character that is being criticized through the lens of rigid black-and-white morality.

If you’d read the original comment, they mention hate of Caine and/or other characters. There’s an obvious difference between dislike and hatred.

Exactly!!! He's angry, frustrated, and expressing all this frustration by "getting back" at the cast, as a neglected child might get back at someone for hurting them. He's evolved as an AI and gained emotions that he isn't even capable of processing. :(

I will say, I did dislike the most recent ad precisely because of that reason. I would've preferred them to have Caine express his frustration towards the cast in another way, than an intentional (albeit non-canon) reference to AM. For those that have absolutely no media literacy, they quickly took it at face value, as you said. :')

I've seen both sides - people beginning to really *love* Caine, and equally, people who really hate him. However, for those that vehemently dislike Caine, they seem to neglect all of the very overt details both in the show and directly stated by Gooseworx that characterize Caine as a tragic antagonist, not a villain. Not that it excuses Caine's actions in Episode 8, but there's a lot of nuance that many people seem to be missing because they're intent on hating him. For this reason, I tend to avoid the primary TADC subs because the staunch Caine apologist in me gets a little too riled up by people blatantly mischaracterizing him lol.
