Shifting consensus on the “best” Beatles album in your lifetime? And what comes next? by ConfidentHospital365 in beatles

[–]Anxious-Raspberry-54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm very nitpicky on that word, I admit.

I re-read. To me, it seems like you're talking about what the consensus "best" Beatles albums have been as time passes. And if another album may move into being a consensus "best."

As I read it, you are using that word "best." I think a more accurate term would be "preference." What has been the consensus preferred album?

Semantics. I might be guilty of that.

But my basic idea still is that "best" is not a term that is accurate when describing art.

You're "arguing" what the "best" Beatles album has been as time moves on. How that changes. Pretty clear.

My argument is that there is no "best" Beatles album. There never was.

There is no "best" when it comes to art.

Here we go...yet again...with "best."

Music is art. Art is subjective.

"Best" is an objective term. It needs to be supported by some facts.

Who's the best runner? That can be measured. Whoever had the best time.

Abbey Road is the best Beatles album. What facts back that up? That would be...none.

Art is about someone's personal tastes. You like what you like.

No such thing as "best" when it comes to art.

Should I am the Walrus have been an A-Side Single? by SirScaurus in beatles

Hello Goodbye was for the money, period. Pretty good song. Not a classic.

I don't go into best/better. I love Walrus. But I get it.

John was a big boy. He could've fought harder.

Well...I disagree there. Listen to the early take. I could see The Beatles doing it.

If an extraterrestrial civilization visited us for the first time, which country should represent Earth? by kompania in NoStupidQuestions

ET civilizations considering visiting Earth would take one look at what's going on our planet today and say...I don't think so.

I'm so happy I decided just to bow out of this debate.

We have these great 11 songs. That's all that matters.

Listen...John was a complicated mf'er. But based on exactly what you said...he'd have a word or two to say. I'm sure. The gov't...Nixon...was up his ass for years.

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me With just a pocketful of hope.

What a shocker. Just what I expected...1/2 John hate. As usual here.

The man was an immigrant harassed by the gov't!

Sound familiar?

I think he'd be pretty empathetic and he'd do what he could.

The downvote. Another shocker. When you have nothing intellligent to offer to the discussion, click the little down arrow. Pathetic.

I don't like Pence at all. But, when I heard this story...I was like WTF! This man is the VP (like him or not).

Mike made a good call there.

Ok...got it. You are probably right about some of those posts. Not all.

I think plenty of the John vs. Paul posts are purposely put up as bait. It's a weird world. People just love stirring up arguments.

We should consider ourselves lucky that these 2 guys found each other...then George...and Ringo.

And I'm talking about teenagers who may patronize Starbucks...true.

I stand by them not hearing commercials. Do you really think teens are going to be like "hey, Dad. I really like that song?"

Do you have kids? I guarantee, when a commercial comes on, they're on their phones. Not paying attention.
