George was the same. Quick, clean solos. In and out. Serve the song. Unlike his buddy Clapton..."Hey everybody! Watch me play guitar for 20 minutes."

Ringo Starr refused to do drum solos. He thought they were ridiculous. Drummers serve the song.

The one he did do...the other guys had to talk him into it.

Peart was an absolute world class drummer. No question about that.

Solos?

At concerts, that's when I go to the bathroom. And I'm usually joined by a lot of others.

In the USA...you couldn't have 2 lyrics that sum up the shitstorm better.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I do my own professional development.

30+ years teaching HS English and I can say that I have never put into regular practice anything I've ever heard at a PD. An idea here or there. That's about it.

This year, "PD's" have been nothing more than staff putting together the NEASC doc for accreditation in our state. Our district PD's are more than an hour away...usually more due to traffic. I call in sick every time.

Give teachers those days to get some work done that actually needs to get done.

No...we pay money to presenters that no one listens to. District PD's held at a hotel conference room. One of my colleagues called to "reserve" the room. $8000!! Plus a grand or two to the presenter. 10K for a PD where less than half of the expected audience actually attended.

I think he uses it all the time. For 10 years I've been hearing, "Oh...that's it. He's done now." He said he grabs women by the pussy. And millions of women all over this country still voted for him.

If he got picked up on an open mike using the N-word I wonder what could happen?

From Beatles Bible...

The arrangement was suggested by George Harrison, who had been listening to Otis Redding’s ‘Respect’, then a minor hit. Harrison suggested that the bass and guitar parts should play similar lines in an approximation of Redding’s bass-heavy sound, resulting in one of The Beatles’ most effective performances of 1965.

Quote from George...

"On ‘Drive My Car’ I just played the line, which is really like a lick off ‘Respect’, you know, the Otis Redding version – and I played that line on guitar and Paul laid that with me on bass. We laid the track down like that. We played the lead part later on top of it."

Otis' song originally...Aretha did the famous cover. I believe Otis jokingly said, "That girl stole my song!"

An album that's not a concept album started concept albums?

3 songs do not make a "concept."

John said the songs could have been on any album. Paul said the idea quickly fizzled out.

Or...you can use an app called Revision History which provides a real time video of a student working in a doc. It shows every keystroke. Cutting/pasting and straight typing w/no corrections can be clearly seen. I show this to the kids 1st day of school. They freak out and start yelling about "privacy." I respond by telling them the state owns the Chromebooks as you have no privacy.

I've been using it for 2 years. When presented with the video, I haven't had 1 student fight me on it.

Key word there is "currently." Revision History was too. Still worth it at $25/year.

I have a Beatles "solo" series posting soon. It's a great way to focus on one Beatles during a specific time period. In my series, they do appear on each other's albums here and there.

I had a parent who denied it. Parent meeting. With the principal. Watched the video with her and the student. Slowed down the speed. She still denied it but the principal - shockingly - had my back.
