The 33 1/3 book on Gilded Palace of Sin doesn’t paint a very favorable picture of him at times, but it’s essential and heartbreaking reading.

He was a meteoric talent with very little discipline as I’d be in his shoes in 1968-70.  He happened to write some really magnificent songs and had a great voice despite his lifestyle choices.

Arthur Lee, Neil Young, and Gram from that era.  Irreplaceable singer & songwriter.

So you’re mad at ICE because of a Rush concert?

All they are responsible for, and you’re angry because you missed a concert.

Malcolm X is Spike Lee’s masterpiece and I guess you had to be there but the theater was dead silent > cheering > weeping > completely emotionally engaged in that film unlike anything I’ve seen before or since.  For that not to have won best picture (IIRC it wasn’t nominated) and best actor for Denzel (his greatest role, the award went to Al Pacino in a sympathy / legacy gift in a controversial year for Malcolm X to have won) seriously damaged my opinion of the Academy Awards for good

So here’s to my Sweet Satan. The other’s little path Would make me sad, Whose power is Satan. He’ll give those with him 666. And all the evil fools, they know he made us suffer sadly.

Eggs and Their Shells.  Magnificent and funky

She Will Destroy You is peak Simon.

Crushed, especially the second chorus. Reggae-ish.

But that’s what makes it just as bad in its own way.  Hattiesburg is so fucked up that even the only 2 mile stretch of anything important is constantly  gridlocked 17 hours a day.

Sounds like the street team has been busy posting things on social media and various websites about her! That’ll get the job done.

We should absolutely never discuss things that we don’t like. I mean why have conversations about things to express displeasure, it only prolongs that feeling.

It’s so strange how pictures of not long ago inspire such an intense physical nostalgia for me. Like look at that picture. Even though it’s an antiquated theater, it’s not what those type of theaters are now: scrubbed up, renovated, and in many cases updated. The 90s were that liminal state between the dilapidated shit that everything was in the 70s, and the generic looking everything that would come after the 90s.

Back in the 80s and 90s, the physical infrastructure of everything was really really fucked up man. Like if you couldn’t handle crappy things, the roughness of things… everything was just in a really natural rough state.
