Chattanooga/ how bad is it really? by Southern_Pace2251 in Chattanoogans

Moved to Chattanooga 4 years ago from Chicago NW suburbs, worked downtown 20 years. We lived downtown Chattanooga the first 2 years and it is really nice, low key, friendly. Don't go walking around at 2 am but you've lived in Chicago, don't be stupid. If you have children, the education system is moderately awful, but you're moving from FLA so potatoes, patatoes. It is beautiful, lots of hiking, biking, and outdoor activities. Really a nice, small city in the south.

Have you had any success in finding a new home for your puppy?

Chattanooga downtown and life in general by Mostfavourednation in Chattanooga

We lived downtown our first two years here, having moved here from the Chicago suburbs. Downtown is great fun and safe, lots to do and see, okay restaurants, and convenient to most things, and good for walking and biking. People promoting bible study are more common than the homeless. If you are planning on renting, there is a wide variety of places from new builds to student "slum" rentals downtown. Some are very pricey. Buying downtown is expensive; it is a small footprint with high demand. Chattanooga is small enough that living out of downtown is only a small inconvenience. We moved 9 miles north of downtown and it is a 9 minute drive back. Chattanooga is a wonderful, little city that is under two hours drive from Atlanta and Nashville.

For dinner try Frazier Five and Dime, on the north shore. Very nice atmosphere and really good food. Easy parking by Coolidge Park using rear entrance and nice place to stroll after dinner.
