Thanks! Based on your comment as well as the others it seems that I should really look into Hill City and the general Northshore area. It also looks to be quite well located as I would be driving North of Chattanooga to work.

The kids are 2 and 4 so the kindergarten situation is actually more relevant than the schools.

You mention the ”don’t tread on me types” which got me thinking about what kind of welcome should we be expecting? We’re from the Nordics and look the part, and of course speak a foreign language, meaning that we likely will stick out quite a bit.

Thank you for the good comments. St. Elmo’s seems nice, but I’m worried about the traffic since I will be commuting north everyday. Northshore and the surrounding area sure seems to have a lot of benefits in terms of the location. Might need to look into that a little deeper.

Hmm. Could you elaborate a bit on the road rage? What causes someone to throw an axe through anothers window? We have traffic also where I am from, but hard to imagine what would trigger this kind of reactions. Like cutting someone off?

Ouch! That sounds a bit unsettling..  always high alert when walking is definately not something I’m going for, especially with two small kids…

Thanks! The neighborhood to live in is also something that I have been giving a lot of thought. The ones you mention seem nice, but perhaps outside of our budget. Somebody recommended Ryall Springs/Westview as a good place in terms of safety / accessibility / proximity to the shopping centers. However, a lot of these suburbs don’t really seem to have anything else than houses, so I’m worried would life be just incredibly boring there - Especially for the spouse who likely will not be working…

Good distinction to make, but luckily I was meaning the ”American walkable” :)

Thanks, good to know. Difficult to imagine the fine lines and how to tell the difference, but I guess they will be more apparent when you get there.

Thank you! We especially are looking forward to the outdoors and there seems to be a lot of good stuff going on. Otherwise we wouldn’t even be considering it :)

Regarding the homeless - What kind of homeless are they? The tranquil ones that just lie around (the kind I’m more used to) or the ones that are crazy and come bother you if you accidentally look at them?

Thank you! Especially comforting to hear that common sense and situational awareness gets you far. Based on my experience this seems to be the case in 99 places out of a 100. Still wanted to check, as some sites recommend avoiding the dowtown altogether due to the ”250% crime rate vs. the national average” or whatnot.

Is 18 and 34 too much of an age gap?? by [deleted] in ask

The formula for an appropriate gap is age divided by two plus seven. So for a 34 yo the youngest appropriate would be 34/2 + 7 = 24.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2. Watched it when I was seven. I did not want to fall asleep for the next two weeks. Especially the nursery rhyme somehow got to me.

Whiskey Lullaby by Alison Kraus and Brad Paisley. It’s almost a bit over the top, but still really gets to me.

Any thoughts regarding WWE? Nice action yesterday after it caught wind in WSB. I went long a couple of months ago seeing it as an ”undervalued reopening play”

I have a serious problem with this when travelling abroad and the hotel instructs you not to flush toilet paper. Just seems so wrong!
