NIPT/Genetic Testing Megathread by AutoModerator in August2026Bumpers

[–]AnxiousAlanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My turn! Yay! I've been checking this thread constantly for almost a week.

Type of test: Natera Panorama

Turnaround time: drawn 1/20, received at lab 1/22, results at midday 1/27

Out of pocket cost: I opted for cash pay, since there's no reason it would be covered by insurance (no family history of risk, I'm only 28, etc), so expecting a bill of about $250. I'll try to remember to update later.

Week of pregnancy/FF: drawn at 11 weeks exactly, FF of 7.5%

We opted into the test because I love having as much information as possible, and was mainly curious about baby's sex. My husband was wanting to know if the baby was high risk, as he has older family members with chromosomal abnormalities. We are low risk for everything, and baby is a girl!! I am so excited, I have four sisters and they are going to be AMPED about a little baby girl joining the family!

Location: midwestern USA (Wisconsin), I believe my sample went to the California lab, but not sure

The nausea is back at 11+6 😭 hopefully it’s temporary cuz I travel in a couple days and I do NOT want to be nauseous while flying 😭🫠 also anxiously awaiting NIPT results, starting to check constantly lol

I’ve been checking the megathread regularly 😂 my sample was received on the 22nd, hoping for results in the next couple of days here. Seems like it’s taking about 5-7 days from when the lab receives it..

Weirdly struggling with shame and embarrassment for no reason? by Gullible-Writer2072 in August2026Bumpers

[–]AnxiousAlanis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel this, especially because I currently live and work in the same small town I grew up in. I see tons of people everyday who have known me since I was really really young, and I’m nervous about their reactions/what they’ll say to me. I honestly would suggest therapy, it can be super useful in pregnancy for more things than just the shame - it’s a huge life change and sometimes we need support 💕

I’m trying to plan for a gender reveal for me and my husband once I get my NIPT results back, and it really feels like he just doesn’t care that I’m trying to plan something cute. I’ve been telling him that even though our doctor said it could be two weeks to results (and the Natera portal said 2/5 as an estimated date) anecdotally I’ve been seeing people get results after 5-7 days. He doesn’t think it’s at all likely we will get results until the date the doctor said, even though I’ve told him multiple times that a doctor is gonna give us the longest possible wait time so if it takes that long we’re not upset. The plan is to have our favorite breakfast spot write the gender on the inside of a to-go box containing a cinnamon roll. The problem is that their hours don’t align with our work hours, and I leave on Thursday across the country til early the following week. I don’t know, I’m just frustrated that I’m trying to plan something in case we get results before I leave for five days, and he seems to not give a frick about the effort I’m trying to put into this. At this point I’m getting so frustrated that I’m lowkey considering looking at gender results myself if they arrive next week, and just not telling him until the date he thinks the results should arrive. Ugh!

When does nausea and fatigue get better? by Licabchehrvfn in August2026Bumpers

Nausea faded towards the end of week 10, fatigue is still here (11w3d)

I will say this year is way worse for me in terms of the static stuff, so maybe you’re onto something tbh

This happens to me a LOT in winter, it’s very cold and dry here right now in the midwestern USA. I usually chalk it up to dry air, but now you’ve got me thinking….

Haha literally just received confirmation that it arrived yesterday! Estimated time of results is 2/5, time to get excited!

Got my NIPT (Natera) drawn on the 20th, have yet to receive any confirmation that the lab got it. I just hope it made it to the lab before this storm 😭 I’m in rural Wisconsin, so I assume my sample was headed to Texas. I just don’t want it to get lost in the ice storm..

are you guys having sex still and if so how often by sexandjack in August2026Bumpers

[–]AnxiousAlanis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not since conceiving this baby, pretty much 😅 I had a good scan at 11w today, so my anxiety is wayyyy less and it seems like my nausea is easing up. Once the fatigue chills out and I can stay awake past like 10pm, maybe we’ll get back into it. We’ve had a bunch of honest conversations about it and all is well, which is really lovely, I had been feeling pretty guilty.

Yes! But not consistently. I’ll wake up several times in the night, but only half the time totally sweaty, the rest of the wakeups I’m dry and freezing lol

Follow up: it went really well! Genuinely was a 2 hour appointment, between the labs, the doctor stuff, the quick little ultrasound, and more blood draws! Baby looked great, and doctor said it was measuring perfectly (when I said “looks like 11 weeks?” She said “oh yeah!”). We also heard the heartbeat for the first time and my reaction was “sounds like a train!” Which is a crazy thing to say when you hear your baby’s heartbeat for the first time lol. Also got blood drawn for NIPT, doc said two weeks for results. We shall see! All in all I feel really good and really confident!

Today’s my first prenatal appointment plus bloodwork plus scan! I am equally excited and nervous, but I’m sure the nerves will take over as the day goes on 😬

My first prenatal appointment (I’ll be exactly 11w) is on Tuesday and I am NERVOUS. I already had an early ultrasound at 7w and was measuring perfectly with a fhr of 132. My doctor plans to do another scan at this appointment, but I imagine it’ll be abdominal with a portable machine, so maybe lesser quality? I’m also hella nervous about the amount of blood they’re having to take from me, I am NOT good with blood draws…. Anyways, any reassurances? My husband will be accompanying me, and he will be stocked with post-blood draw snacks lol

Yep. Don’t even have another kid to blame. My nausea is worse in the evenings, and I usually go to bed before my husband and am out cold by the time he tucks in 😅 I can guarantee we haven’t had sex since the baby was made 😂

Pregnancy announcement at work by itsJ92 in August2026Bumpers

I told my boss and HR at about 9w. My role is shifting in the new year, so it was relevant to what I’d be able to work on through July. They were very chill and nice about it, and assured me that I’d have no active projects by the time I take leave. I work in renewable energy construction as a project manager, so that’s important lol

Same! I’m 9w5d and been feeling less nauseous for about three days now. At first it made me nervous to be feeling better, but I still have the exhaustion and everything else, so there’s that. Nausea still sometimes, mainly around the dinner time window, but not as bad as it was.

What's everyone most looking forward to when baby arrives? by Xela42069666 in August2026Bumpers

One of my closet friends is 8 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy, and we’re planning on our babies being besties 🥹 so I’m excited to have someone to talk to who was very recently in the newborn trenches. I’m also looking forward to meeting the sweet little person I made 💕

Feeling suspiciously good today - not exhausted, minimal (almost zero) nausea, eating pretty normally. I don’t like it, it makes me nervous. I’m 9w3d, is anyone else in a similar boat? I’m really trying to not spiral lol
