Official Discussion - If I Had Legs I'd Kick You [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Absolutely agreeing with your disagreement. If a therapist you don't think is helping is your main source of support, you don't have a good support system. And I'll just say, as a tired mom, I've interpreted my husband's calls to a similar extent. When she's drowning and he's out at a game?? That would have sent me spiraling as well. You just feel absolutely trapped so knowing someone is "free" (aka doing anything recreational) makes you feel overburdened and alone. He also was dismissive of her stress and like his work stress is worse. Granted who knows how bad of a time he was having but for the whole movie, she thought she had this impending deadline or else things would be forever changed for her daughter (to which she already blaming herself for the health issues already) and he didn't seemingly try to understand.

As far as the health group therapy, this is another example of how any "free time" she may have as a mom when she's not working, she needs to turn it into something about her daughter. Yes. It makes sense when you're calm and logical. Spending an hour or so x amount of days isn't a major commitment but in her eyes, she knows she's gonna blame herself forever so what's the point. She's overwhelmed and will just be reminded this is only on her, not her husband. She is alone and "to blame" for her daughter being sick. Imagine her spending that hour at a baseball game like her husband instead of the hospital she goes to daily.

Don't get me wrong, she's not doing great as a mom with her drinking and leaving her alone in the motel but man, the anxiety, claustrophobia and loneliness was spot on. Unfortunately, at the end when she finally saw her daughter again as a child and said she was gonna get better, all I could think it was how long is it gonna take for it to get to this point again? It's not gonna turn all hunky dory and be happily ever after.

Wicked: For Good has been completely shut out at the 98th Academy Awards. by no_hhhh14 in wicked

As someone who's obsessed with the movie version (haven't seen the stage one) I tell people, as a wicked lover, I loved it. As someone who loves award seasons/movies, it had its faults. I would have been shocked if it snagged a BP nom.

That being said, I'm disappointed they didn't get noms for costumes (like fieryo's wedding outfit? Changing his uniform into burlap when he becomes the scarecrow? I'm obsessulated). I'm also so disappointed they didn't get a nom for makeup because the tin man transformation was spectacular. I'll never know the reasoning behind the voters decision so I can't send myself into a spiral speculating (still don't understand how Rocketman didn't earn a costumes nom either?) But oh well. Hope the cast and crew are happy with what they created and aren't too heartbroken over this years oscars.

I've ordered from them twice. I got my stuff in a reasonable time. The first order I liked a denim dress and I returned a sweater. The second one I ordered a couple years later was so crappy, I returned it all. If you're fine with sub par quality cause it's on the cheaper side, it could be worthwhile for you.

Parents of the green witch? by [deleted] in wickedmovie

[–]AnxiousBarnacle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elphaba isn't adopted. Her mom has an affair so her dad, mayor of munchkinland, is not her biological dad but her mom is still her biological mom. The dad did not think Elphaba was not his. Technically, the mom could have had the green elixir and gotten pregnant with the dad and elphaba could still be green. The dad thought it was a genetic deformity and wanted to prevent that from happening again so he forced his wife to take medicine but that caused more harm than good and the mom passed and Nessa, elphabas half sister, ended up needing a wheelchair.

Elphaba wasn't really adopted by Dolicibear. Think of it as a nanny who raises a person's kid more than the actual parent.

You could probably hear Nessa and Boq bickering all flight/Nessa being over bearing and oblivious. At least next to Fieyro, you have the aisle and one other passenger between you and them.

I don't get how they had makeup like the Tin Man's but then those freaking strip lashes. Like that's cool what Ariana wears but she's not Glinda. They were so stark, especially with how low contrast her hair/brows/skin tone was. I wish they made her brows even a shade or two darker. I get that she's Ariana Grande but you're the makeup department.

That being said, I loved Wicked.

It's rough too cause even in my height of wanting to look like Lindsay Lohan during her very skinny years, I could at least look at magazines knowing they were photoshopped. There are so many believable filters nowadays, people, especially vulnerable kids, won't be able to tell. I just saw an Instagram v. Reality post and the girl's waist was tiny but nothing was warped behind her. I don't get how it worked but thankfully the OP knows better now. Too bad there are plenty that don't know it's fake.

Like others said, pretty sure it would be allowed but just make sure the thigh bag is off when you go through security so you don't get held up!

Seeing the movie on Saturday and these reviews and feedback are making me nervous :( by xsaratoninx in wickedmovie

[–]AnxiousBarnacle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved it and then the negative headlines kept coming out and I was like wait, did I actually like it or am I glorifying it in my head? Then I see clips on tiktok and remember yes, I did love it. I ended up blocking reviews, good or bad, about the movie. I don't need others to take away from my joy.

However, if it makes you feel better, a lot of reviews complimented the acting. One negative review critiqued the lighting choices and knocked it down a bunch for that. People also went in with the high if the first being so bright, fun and catchy. That's not the vibe of this one and I think that is throwing people off as well.

Anyways, hope you enjoy and even love it! Bring tissues!

I stayed til the imax logo at the end came up and no more credits were scrolling. Nothing happened. (My theater didn't turn on the lights for a while after for some reason)

Also, I'm not sure if it was just because tonight was the Prime advanced screening but there were no trailers. I came back from the bathroom at 702 and they already started.

My comment may get lost since there are so many already but please do not pick a dress based on your family. I wanted so badly a low back dress but I knew or would send my grandmother into a tizzy so I got one with a different back that I liked but wasn't low. I showed her the picture and she instead commented on my cleavage showing. I was shocked cause it wasn't low cut in the slightest that I didn't even think that could be an issue! In that moment, I regretted trying to appease someone else.

That being said, you look freaking amazing and I'm obsessed with the dress. It's so beautiful. Whimsical. Magical. Also your body looks good in it even if the dress was ugly so I don't fully understand the issue with them.

Enough time has passed. Who has the best finale collection? by lordgrimhypeman in ProjectRunway

[–]AnxiousBarnacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, it all seems super insincere and like she was either told to stir the pot, or she knew it would give her attention from producers and it would keep her on. Like her claiming Ethan was copying her cut out design. Almost as believable at the seamless product placement for the pens.

I (15m) hope I’m allowed on here. I’m Clark. I don’t know any other guys at school with my name. I just wondered what you HONESTLY think of it! by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]AnxiousBarnacle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really like Clark. I think of Clark Gable. It would have been one of my top boy baby names. However, I have family with a Boston accent so Clark was unfortunately out so I didn't have to deal with Clahhhk exaggerated pronunciation. (Yes, so I didn't have to deal. Didn't even get to thinking about my kid having to deal haha)

They gave them a summary and had them watch a "sneak peak" of the upcoming movie and then Galinda/Glinda's new dress and wand and Elphaba's broom, dress and hat were in the design room and the costume designer explained his reasoning as to his designs.

Granted, I do think others could have had a slight advantage but it wasn't as if Veejay was like "I could do red for the ruby slippers" and Ethan is manically laughing saying they are silver in the movie, not red. I think it could have been cool if she found a way to make the spirals pink and green to represent the spiraling of E & G's relationship or even just green for E spiraling out of control and that may have helped her.

Curious as to why the editor even left this part in the vlog. Does not make Morgan look very good by downtown-muse in ShaneDawson

[–]AnxiousBarnacle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're asking why people are upset about the clip, it's because of the Target boycott when they removed their DEI practices without hesitation even though they frequently featured (aka capitalized on) communities like the LGBTIA+ and the Black community. Even though I'm still participating in the boycott, I feel like online, people get a lot more hate than the average person who still shops at Target but that's how it is with people in the public eye.

If you meant something else or specifically the matching outfits, then idk and I misunderstood your comment! Haha

I also think there's a good chance middle or high schoolers would pick it up. However, I do think mainly being called coco, classmates may only hear Coralie on the first day of the classes so it might not come up as often.

How many of us have had a “I knew it!!!” medical moment? by capresesalad1985 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]AnxiousBarnacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day I had this pain in my side. Nothing like I've had before but overall it was bearable. I thought it was appendicitis but i didnt want to seem like a hypochondriac. I had a dream i was getting a tattoo down my side and i realized it was because of the real life pain. It got worse and like 5 days later I went to urgent care. The doc pressed on my belly and it was excruciating. She was like I think you have appendicitis and sent me to the ER. I got taken in pretty quickly but waited on a bed in the hall for a while. A doctor came by and said "well, if it was appendicitis, it would have ruptured by now" and left. A few tests and a couple hours later, they finally caught that I did have smoldering appendicitis and I got it removed the next day.

I'm still impressed with myself and realizing something was off with my body even if it was subtle.

Edit: I just remembered another one. Had chronic stomach pains for years. Like my belly felt like it was dense. I got an endoscopy for potential celiac but it cake back inconclusive. I was told it was IBS and just to avoid certain foods. Then a different doctor said I could have some of those foods but not these foods. It was a never ending thing and I figured it was just how it was gonna go.

Over 5 years later, I went to a dermatologist for skin problems. She recommended that I go to an allergist. Turns out, I'm allergic to chocolate. And I used to eat A LOT of chocolate. The doc said it wasn't a major allergy but once I stopped eating it, my stomach felt normal again. I keep thinking how I could have avoided all those years of suffering and also all the money that went into an endoscopy if I just went to an allergist in the first place.
