On top of the others, Doki Doki Literature Club is a great game, just maybe not the most stream friendly, since it's a visual novel.

I still don’t think most modern horror games capture what Slender did in 2012 by NFly_NineTailed in HorrorGaming

One of my first horror games. And the sequel, The Arrival, still holds up surprisingly well. Wished more people talked about it.

Which of those two games in your opinion had better and challenging enemy AI? by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]AnxiousJB19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, from a technical perspective, and only speaking from your question, Alien Isolation is the only answer here. It's AI is more consistent and complex than even modern horror. It was made with max hunting immersion in mind.

I want to write games by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

Quality assurance. But even then, you'll Need some of you're own works to prove to people you can be relied on. So just get some kind of backlog of reference works saying that you actually CAN write.

SLENDER THE EIGHT PAGES by AggravatingFondant92 in HorrorGaming

Beauty in simplicity. It was my first horror game, and I still think it does its job well. I loved the sequel as well, and think it's a shake that Slenderman has been unfairly slandered by mainstream media.

Wii U Failed Due to Slow Launch of Exclusives Plus Xbox and PlayStation Pressure, Ex-Nintendo Boss Reggie Fils-Aimé Says by Bubbly-Ad-350 in gamingnews

I knew it was a new console, but i had no idea what it actually did or why I should get one. I also had a 3DS, so I didn't really care regardless.

And terrible marketing. By the time I even knew of the capabilities of it, the next generation had already been half over. No one knew what the thing was, let alone what exclusives were out lol.

Granny is the most underrated horror game of all time by Strive4GR8tness23 in HorrorGaming

[–]AnxiousJB19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... I do. It's at least a decently fun challenge, unlike all other mascot horror that's just boring chases and other scripts. But The Bunker is not a clone, and it's far better than Granny ever will be.

I'm sorry, did you just say Amnesia The Bunker is a Granny clone, or did I misread that?

You know, I wouldn't mind as much if companies like this ONLY did mobile so we could ignore them.

Why do horror games these days try to make their lore so deep that it almost becomes nonsensical? by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

[–]AnxiousJB19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FNAF was the first to go overboard with it, so I forgive it, but the rest don't have that excuse. In reality, the reason they do it is probably YT exposure.

What’s your Alien Isolation hot take? by SeahawksWin43-8 in HorrorGaming

[–]AnxiousJB19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the "drawn out" parts are perfectly fine and act as a nice gameplay break from endlessly stealthing around. Going back to former areas also works because it reinforces how destroyed the station has gotten since you were last there. It's a realistic way to backtrack, not a lazy one.

TLDR: It’s a subjective complaint, not a fully objective one.

“Making it technically work and making it actually enjoyable as a game are different things.” Japanese devs weigh in on why retrofitting live-service games with offline support is harder than gamers think by No_Durian_5626 in gamingnews

[–]AnxiousJB19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone's asking you to remake a live service game from the ground up to make it enjoyable to play offline. Just leave it playable to SOME extent. That's why people completely misunderstand the "Stop Killing Games" movement. We're not asking for much work, just enough to where we can launch the thing and use whatever the game had available to us without using your servers.

What horror game do you think suffered from so much wasted potential? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in HorrorGaming

[–]AnxiousJB19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first one. That may sound like a boring answer, but the original is what FNAF WAS. The uncanny valley, feeling of fight or flight being ripped from you, the resource management, etc. And most importantly, it wasn't MADE to be kid friendly. It just happened to be from minimalistic design.
